Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in art therapy and counselling psychology (or equivalent).
  • Registered Art Therapist (RCAT or equivalent) with active practice within last five years.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with BCACC or CCPA.
  • For clinical courses: licensure eligibility as a psychologist with the College of Psychologists of BC is an asset.
  • Minimum of one year of graduate-level teaching experience.
  • Specialized training in curriculum design, development, and implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses in Counselling Psychology: Art Therapy program and communicate subject matter clearly.
  • Develop, review, and update curriculum to align with art therapy and counselling standards (CATA/ATCB).
  • Cover required areas: history/theory, techniques, diverse populations, ethics, research methods, integration of art-based and counselling approaches.
  • Incorporate experiential learning, group work, and culturally responsive pedagogy.
  • Support students in developing clinical and creative competencies through supervision and mentorship.
