Job summary

Interpro Pipe & Steel Inc. in Red Deer seeks an Area Supervisor to oversee manufacturing operations. You will partner with engineering, maintenance and safety teams to drive production efficiency and quality, while ensuring safety and adherence to programs.

The role requires 2+ years in industrial operations, leadership experience, and strong lean/OH&S knowledge. Night shifts (~12 hours) are required, with opportunities for training and advancement within the company.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in a related field; engineering degree preferred.
• Minimum two years' industrial operations experience; experience in steel/pipe facilities preferred.
• Previous experience leading a team and overseeing work.
• Understanding lean manufacturing principles and OH&S regulations.
• Able to work night shift schedule (12-hr shifts).
• Excellent verbal and written communication; proficient in Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily production activities to meet production targets and monthly shipping plan.
• Drive productivity and improve Yield and First Pass Yield.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental and quality programs.
• Direct and coordinate production with engineering, maintenance and safety teams.
• Conduct monthly safety meetings and arrange employee training.
• Report mechanical/electrical concerns promptly and support failure analysis.
• Engage staff in continuous improvement to reduce waste.

Job Description and Responsibilities

Join Interpro Pipe & Steel's Red Deer team as an Area Supervisor, where you'll play a pivotal role in overseeing our manufacturing operations. This position is essential for ensuring that our production processes run smoothly and efficiently, contributing directly to our company's commitment to quality and innovation. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, maintenance, and safety personnel, fostering an environment of continuous improvement.

• Drive results by optimizing operations to increase productivity and improve Yield and First Pass Yield
• Ensure compliance with all aspects of the safety, health, environmental, and quality programs
• Plan, align, and direct daily production activities to ensure daily production requirements are met and/or exceeded and conformance with the monthly shipping plan is assured
• Due diligence, make every reasonable effort to ensure the safety of the employees
• Conduct monthly safety meetings
• Work with operators and stakeholders to effectively solve problems
• Provide or arrange training for employees to meet the standards of the job they are performing
• Support all company and regulatory requirements
• Effectively report mechanical/electrical concerns immediately and contribute to failure analysis
• Engage employees in continuous improvement to identify and eliminate waste

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a related field, candidates with an engineering degree preferred, or a combination of education and equivalent experience
• Minimum two years’ industrial operations experience, experience in operating steel/pipe facilities preferred
• Previous experience leading a team and overseeing work preferred
• Demonstrated business operations and process improvement experience
• Understanding and knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
• Familiarity with occupational health and safety (OH&S) regulations and safety standards
• Must be able to work night shift schedule (12hrs shift)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proven ability to motivate team
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
