A leading company in civil construction is seeking an Area Manager in Saint John, NB, to oversee multiple projects, ensuring safety and quality standards. This leadership position requires strong experience in civil project management, with a proven track record of successful project delivery. As the primary point of accountability, the Area Manager will liaise with clients, subcontractors, and senior teams to drive operational efficiency and profitability.
We are currently seeking a seasoned Area Manager to join our client’s team in Saint John, NB. As the successful candidate, you will oversee the execution and delivery of multiple civil construction projects, while also managing relationships and supporting business development with clients and major civil and industrial partners within your designated region. This leadership role is critical to ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Area Manager will act as the primary point of accountability for project operations in their territory and serve as a key liaison between clients, project teams, subcontractors, and senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple heavy civil construction projects in the assigned area.
• Supervise and mentor project managers and site supervisors to ensure adherence to safety, quality, budget, and schedule goals.
• Monitor financial performance, project margins, and resource allocation across projects.
• Prepare and submit regular progress reports to senior management, clients, and other key stakeholders.
• Develop and implement strategic plans to improve operational efficiency, productivity, and overall profitability within the area.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, engineers, regulatory bodies, and subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Champion a strong safety culture and enforce adherence to company and industry safety standards.
Qualifications:
• University or college degree in Civil Engineering is preferred.
• Progressive experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Proven track record in civil construction management and a comprehensive knowledge of end-to-end construction processes and industry best practices.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
• P.Eng. designation would be considered an asset.
