Job summary

TalentSphere Staffing Solutions Inc. is seeking an Architectural Technologist/Designer for a property development company in North Toronto.

You will support capital improvement projects across residential, commercial, and office properties from design development to construction documentation. The role emphasizes coordination with architects, engineers, and contractors, with a focus on building science and construction phases.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• Minimum 3+ years of full-time experience in an architectural practice, engineering consultancy, development company, or construction environment.
• A portfolio and project sheet with midsized projects above 10m CDN valuation or 10F (80+ units).
• Software skills: Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape, Lumion, Bluebeam, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator; MS-Project.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, coordinate issues, and communicate with stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and initiative.

Responsibilities

• Assist with architectural planning and design for residential suites, commercial interiors, office spaces, amenities, and shared building areas.
• Develop space plans, conceptual layouts, design studies, presentation materials, and construction drawing packages.
• Review consultant drawings, shop drawings, and material submissions for discrepancies and coordination.
• Support permit applications, tender documentation, construction drawings, and record drawings.
• Assist with existing-condition surveys, site measurements, and verification of architectural details.
• Assist with RFIs, Change Orders, shop drawing reviews, and material substitutions.
• Participate in quality-control reviews, mock-up inspections, and deficiency resolution.
• Coordinate project requirements with Property Management, Facilities, Leasing, Finance, and other departments.
• Participate in design and construction meetings and follow up on deliverables.
• Monitor consultant submissions, contractor documentation, approvals, and project milestones; assist with schedules, budgets, procurement records, progress reporting.

About The Opportunity

Our client, an established real estate development and property management organization, seeks an Architectural Technologist/Designer to assist with capital improvement projects across its residential, commercial, and office properties. This position offers an opportunity to gain A-Z experience; from preliminary design to project completion, working alongside architects, engineers, and contractors. You will help in design development & technical documentation; coordination, and CA functions. The role is suited to an organized professional that understands building science and construction phases.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with architectural planning and design for residential suites, commercial interiors, office spaces, amenities, and shared building areas.
• Develop space plans, conceptual layouts, design studies, presentation materials, and construction drawing packages.
• Review consultant drawings, shop drawings, and material submissions to identify discrepancies and support technical coordination.
• Support permit applications, tender documentation, construction drawings, and record drawings.

• Assist with Requests for Information (RFIs), Change Orders, shop drawing reviews, and proposed material substitutions.

• Participate in design and construction meetings and follow up on outstanding deliverables.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
• Minimum 3+ years of full-time years of relevant experience in an architectural practice, engineering consultancy, development company, construction firm, or comparable project environment.
• A portfolio & project sheet of detailed drawings including midsized projects above 10m CDN valuation or 10F (80++ units)
• Software skills: Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape, Lumion, Bluebeam, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator; MS-Project
