Job summary

Gensler is seeking an experienced Architect to lead a team of architects and technical designers on high-profile commercial projects in Ottawa. You will drive projects from concept through build, coordinating with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, and other consultants, while guiding clients and teams to successful outcomes.

You will apply your deep knowledge of building codes, LEED/WELL accreditation, and design standards to deliver innovative, buildable solutions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in a commercial design firm.
• Experience with building codes, standards, building construction, and building structures.
• Licensed Architect
• LEED, WELL, Passive House, or related accreditation preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of architects and technical designers to deliver projects from concept through build.
• Coordinate with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, and other consultants; manage client and team communications.
• Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions to design challenges.
• Maintain project manuals and specifications.
• Conduct site visits, process submittals, substitution requests, and RFIs during construction

Job description

As a Gensler Architect, it’s your job to lead a team of architects and technical designers to deliver unparalleled architectural projects. Leverage your industry experience and technical acumen to drive client projects from concept through build.

Your Role

Manage client, team and project coordination, including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, civil consultants etc.

Support communication between project team, clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and building and permitting officials

Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions to resolve complex technical and design challenges

Maintain project manual and specifications

Conduct and document site visits, process submittals, substitution requests, and RFI’s during construction

Your Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture

10+ years of experience in a commercial design firm

Experience in lifestyle projects (retail, hospitality, entertainment, etc.)

Licensed Architect

Experience with Revit, Bluebeam Revu, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), and MS Office.

Working knowledge of building codes, standards, building construction, and building structures

LEED, WELL, Passive House, or related accreditation preferred

**The base salary range will be estimated between $97,000 - $115,000.** Gensler’s total compensation package is multi-layered and includes a base salary, two annual bonuses paid in December and June.
