Job summary

Bass Pro Shops is seeking a Retail Lead to oversee the day-to-day operation of a store department, reporting to the Group Sales Manager. This role emphasizes strong supervision, customer-focused service, and effective department administration.

The successful candidate will guide the team, ensure consistent service, and maintain visual standards while supporting overall store operations. Weekend shifts and opening/closing coverage are expected.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of supervisory experience in a sales or service environment.
• Open availability to work store opening/closing shifts, including weekends.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to evaluate customers’ needs and make recommendations.
• Ability to provide superior customer service and exceed expectations.
• Experience in outdoor lifestyle retail is an asset.

Summary

Reporting to the Group Sales Manager, the Retail Lead is responsible for overseeing the successful day to day operation of a retail store department.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and leadership to the team members of the department, in partnership with the manager


• Delegate tasks and work assignment to team members by giving clear and concise direction, and follow up to ensure proper execution


• Foster the growth and development of team members by training various standard operating procedures and processes


• Ensure team members follow all standard operating procedures and systems processes, following up to provide correction and guidance when needed, and reporting violations to the manager


• Perform administrative tasks related to their assigned department


• Provide legendary customer service by identifying and evaluating customers’ needs, and making product recommendations based off this analysis


• Promote company programs to team members and customers


• Maintain visual presentation standards including in-store signage, merchandise recovering/front facing, restocking, remerchandising, dusting, and vacuuming sales floor as needed


• Respond to and resolve customer issues by using good judgment and logic in solving problems and making decisions within the job scope


• Assist in other areas of the store when business needs dictate
