Job summary

Irvin Heritage Inc., a boutique archaeological consultancy in Ontario, is hiring Field Technicians to conduct surveys across multiple sites. The role involves walking fields, digging test pits, and assisting with excavation and soil screening as part of our cultural resource management work.

Starting wage is 24+ CAD per hour, scaled with experience. Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's in Archaeology, have two field seasons in Ontario, and can handle physical and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Archaeology or related field is required.
• Minimum 2 field seasons working in Ontario archaeology.
• Ability to walk long distances and lift 40 lbs in all weather conditions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow directions.
• Adherence to safety measures and protocols is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Assist in archaeological surveys at various sites across Ontario.

Archaeologist - Field Technician Experienced

This position currently hiring up to 4 Field Technicians.

An Archaeologist - Field Technician travels to variable site locations accross Ontario to facilitate archaeological survey. The job entails walking farm fields, digging and screening test pits, and participating in excavation and soil screening activities.

Field Technicians meet in the morning at either our Newmarket office or a predetermined carpool location and travel in company vehicles to the day's work site. Irvin Heritage Inc works on a variety of site types doing a variety of survey methods, giving our Field Techs a breadth of experience across environments, time periods, and site contexts.

Starting Wage: $24+/hr scaled to experience

Requirements

Bachelors in Archaeology or related field

Minimum 2 Field Seasons working in Ontario Archaeology

Ability to walk long distances & lift 40lbs in all weather conditions

Strong Communication Skills

Ability to follow direction & think critically

Strong adherence to Safety Measures and Protocols
