Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Co. of Canada, Limited in Port Robinson, Ontario is hiring an Arborist Apprentice to gain hands-on experience in field operations and support certified arborists on site.

You'll help maintain safe, organized worksites while learning all aspects of arboriculture with the goal of certification. You'll perform duties in a team environment, participate in safety training, and have access to ongoing training, benefits, and career advancement opportunities with an employee-owned

Qualifications

• Valid provincial driver’s license; 5-ton vehicle license with air brake endorsement is asset.
• Previous arboriculture/horticulture experience.
• Willingness to work toward becoming a Certified Arborist.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Ability to work safely as part of a team and demonstrate willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Control lowering ropes.
• Supply tools for tree workers aloft.
• Control road and sidewalk traffic as needed by warning devices.
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly maintenance inspections on equipment.
• Cut, chip and load brush and wood.
• Complete proper job site cleanup.
• Assist other crew members in performing job duties.
• Abide by Davey and industry safety policies and procedures.
