Job summary

Wright Tree Service of Canada is seeking an Apprentice Utility Arborist to join our field crew. You will assist in loading and unloading gear, support site setup and teardown, and help maintain safe, productive work sites in variable weather.

This role requires teamwork, basic tree knowledge, and a willingness to perform manual labor with a focus on safety. 9 days on/5 days off shifts and company-provided equipment are offered.

The Position: Apprentice Utility Arborist

Type: Full-time

Reports To: Project Manager

Key Responsibilities:

• Load and unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris, or feed brush into a woodchipper.
• Assist in site set-up and take-down, including equipment handling and maintaining site cleanliness.
• Commitment to working safely and supporting a positive team environment.
• Perform physically demanding manual labor in various weather conditions.
• Other duties as required.

Experience and Knowledge Expectations:

• Basic knowledge of trees, including identification and growth habits.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record; air brakes endorsement is a plus.
• Ability to work as part of a team in physically demanding environments.
• Motivated to learn independently and from team members, with strong time management skills.
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining tools and equipment.
• Comfortable working in noisy environments with proper PPE.
• Willingness to work long hours, overtime, and participate in on-call rotations during emergencies.
• Valid First-Aid and CPR certificates.
