Job summary

North Shore Ford in Elliot Lake, ON is seeking a motivated Ford Technician Apprentice to join our service team. This paid, first-year apprenticeship offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and OEM training toward Red Seal certification.

You will assist licensed technicians with diagnostics and routine maintenance, learn Ford IDS and FDRS, and grow within a supportive, safety‑driven shop environment in Northern Ontario.

Qualifications

• Enrollment or eligibility to register as a Red Seal Automotive Service Technician (310S) is an asset.
• Mechanical aptitude and genuine interest in how vehicles work.
• Willing to complete trade school and OEM training.
• Strong attention to detail and reliable work ethic.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed technicians with diagnostics, repairs, and routine maintenance on Ford vehicles.
• Perform oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and other basic services under supervision.
• Learn to use Ford’s proprietary diagnostic tools and software (e.g., IDS, FDRS).
• Maintain a clean and organized service bay, following all health and safety protocols.
• Participate in OEM and trade school training toward apprenticeship milestones.
• Document repair orders accurately and communicate findings to senior technicians and service advisors.
• Support seasonal tire changeover and winter preparation services, critical to local operations.
• Monitor and manage inventory of parts and shop supplies as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

We are seeking a motivated Ford Technician Apprentice to join our service team. This is a paid, first-year apprenticeship position offering hands-on experience, mentorship, and OEM-specific training as you work toward becoming a Red Seal certified Automotive Service Technician.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone starting out in the skilled trades who is eager to learn, mechanically inclined, and looking to build a long-term career in automotive service right here in Northern Ontario.

• Mechanical aptitude and a genuine interest in vehicles and how they work.
• Willingness to learn, take direction, and complete required trade school and OEM training.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a solid work ethic.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work on your feet throughout the day.
• Valid Ontario driver’s license.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada.

Additional Information

• Full-time, permanent position — Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
• This position is supported in part by the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC).
• Structured apprenticeship with daily on-site supervision and mentorship from our Service Manager and licensed technicians.
• Paid OEM (Ford) and trade school training toward your Certificate of Qualification.
• Candidates must be located in Elliot Lake, ON, or willing to relocate to Elliot Lake, ON.
