Job summary

Scarboro Subaru is seeking an Apprentice Service Technician (Level 1 or Level 2) to learn and perform hands-on maintenance in a busy shop. You will work with Licensed Technicians and a Shop Foreman while gaining independence as you progress.

Pay rate ranges from $20 to $24 per hour. Ontario class license and valid driving record are required. Training includes factory and apprenticeship schooling and regular team meetings.

Qualifications

• Registered automotive apprentice with Skills Trades Ontario (Level 1 or Level 2).
• Understanding of core automotive systems from in-school and on-the-job training.
• Ability to follow instructions and work with licensed technicians.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous learning.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance (oil/filters, tire rotations, fluid checks).
• At Level 2, perform minor repairs with appropriate supervision.
• Handle tire services: removal, installation, balancing, seasonal changes.
• Carry out safety inspections and document findings for technicians.
• Assist licensed technicians and escalate needs for approval as applicable.
• Use shop tools and diagnostic equipment per training and authorization.
• Complete work orders accurately and document for review.
• Coordinate with Parts Department and manage parts (incl. warranty).
• Perform road tests when authorized, following safety protocols.
• Participate in apprenticeship schooling and manufacturer training.

Are you a registered automotive apprentice looking to build real experience toward your 310S licence? Scarboro Subaru is looking for an Apprentice Service Technician, and we're glad to hear from apprentices at either Level 1 or Level 2. You'll work alongside our Licensed Technicians and Shop Foreman in a busy, well run shop, taking on more responsibility and independence as your skills grow.

What you'll do

• Perform routine maintenance (oil and filter changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks) and, at Level 2, minor repairs, with the level of supervision that fits your stage
• Handle tire services: removal, installation, balancing, and seasonal changeovers
• Carry out vehicle safety inspections and basic system checks, and flag your findings to a Licensed Technician or Shop Foreman
• Assist Licensed Technicians with assigned work (Level 1), or help spot additional maintenance and repair needs and elevate them for approval (Level 2)
• Use shop tools, equipment, lifting devices, and diagnostic tools in line with your training and authorization
• Complete work orders accurately and document your work for supervisor review
• Coordinate with the Parts Department, and store and label parts (including warranty parts) to dealership standards
• Perform road tests when authorized, following our safety protocols
• Keep up with manufacturer technical bulletins, and take part in apprenticeship schooling, manufacturer training, and team meetings
• Keep your bays and customer vehicles clean and organized, and report any safety or equipment concerns right away

What you'll bring

• Registration as an apprentice with Skilled Trades Ontario — Level 1 in-school training complete for a Level 1 role, or Level 2 complete for a Level 2 role
• A working understanding of core automotive systems (tires and wheels, brakes, steering and suspension, electrical) from your in-school and on-the-job training
• A valid Ontario Class G licence with a clean driving record, and comfort driving both manual and automatic vehicles
• Clear communication and the ability to follow instructions and raise concerns with your technician or foreman
• Solid attention to detail, reliability, and good time management
• A team-first attitude and the ability to keep pace in a fast, hands-on shop
• The physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 70 lbs. occasionally
