Job summary

District Mechanical seeks an apprentice plumber to read blueprints, layout plumbing systems, and contribute to water supply and drainage installations across multiple job sites. You will mark positions, cut openings, join pipes, test for leaks, and size systems under supervision.

The role includes on-the-job training at various commercial, industrial, and residential sites, with WHMIS certification supported. No formal degree is required; on-site work is essential.

Qualifications

• No degree required; on-the-job training provided.
• On-site work at multiple locations is required.
• WHMIS Certificate is preferred or required.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systems
• Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes and fixtures in walls and floors
• Cut opening in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings
• Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or soldering, brazing and welding equipment
• Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges
• Determine piping system requirements and pipe sizing
• Measure, cut, thread and bend pipes to required shape and size
• Ensure electrical and plumbing installations meet government regulation
