Job description
Overview

We are seeking a Millwright apprentice or Millwright assistant to support our compost facility in the Southeast of Calgary AB. This position is unique where the environment may include odors typical of compost operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Assist team members, including Millwrights, with a variety of tasks and activities throughout all facilities and surrounding grounds.
  • Participate in various labor activities and handy work, including but not limited to cleaning, materials management, facilities maintenance, and improvements based on defined expectations and deliverables.
  • Support Millwrights in equipment installation, maintenance, and repair tasks under supervision.
  • Collaborate with team members to assign daily tasks, prioritize activities, and deliver outstanding performance and quality.
  • Operate company vehicles as required to support facility operations.
  • Live the safety-first mandate with unquestionable ethics and discipline to health & safety best practices.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (safety shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, respirator, etc.) as required.
Qualifications
  • General labor experience in a similar environment is considered a strong asset.
  • Construction, mechanical, or heavy equipment background considered an asset.
  • Skid steer experience considered a strong asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License; must be comfortable driving as part of the role.
  • Previous Millwright assistant/apprentice experience required.

  • Exhibit strong time management & organizational skills.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently in a compost facility environment.
  • Must be willing to be clean shaven for use of masks.
Working Conditions
  • Repetitive lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Work is mostly inside the facility but occasionally outside.
  • Fast-paced environment with exposure to compost odors.
  • Hours of work: 44 hours per week, 6:00 am to 3:30 pm, five days a week.
  • Availability for overtime.
  • Qualified candidates MUST be available to work a rotating schedule that includes weekends.
