Job summary

Great Western Malting in Calgary, AB is seeking a Maintenance Millwright to join our team. The role includes interpreting maintenance work orders, performing repairs, and supporting on-call maintenance for plant electrical equipment.

Emphasis on safety, documentation, and reliability in a high-capacity malting operation.

Qualifications

• Must have Inter-Provincial Red Seal certification as a Journeyman Millwright.
• Excellent communication and written skills are required.
• Attention to detail and high-quality standards are essential.
• Positive attitude and self-starter mentality preferred.
• Experience with maintenance, calibration, and installation of process control instrumentation and PLCs is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Receive and interpret maintenance work orders and complete tasks with proper tools and documentation.
• Participate in on-call maintenance support on a rotating basis.
• Perform daily tasks in accordance with safety regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Able to receive and interpret maintenance work orders and complete the task with the appropriate tools and documentations.
• Participate in on-call maintenance support on a rotating basis to repair defective plant electrical equipment outside the normal operating hours.
• Performs daily tasks in accordance with safety regulations.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Communication skills both verbal and written with emphasis on English.
• Knowledge of the following specific areas and additional qualifications would be an asset:
• Maintenance, calibration, development and installation of process control instrumentation.
• Maintenance and configuration of programmable logic controllers
• Local area networks and electronic instrumentation, including scales
• Experience with troubleshooting and resolving machine breakdowns with minimal downtime of equipment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Must have an Inter-Provincial Red Seal certification as a Journeyman Millwright
• Previous safety training an asset
• Excellent communication and written skills
• Attention to detail and high-quality standards
• Positive attitude and self-starter

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Personal Protective Equipment required in all work environments.
• Indoor work environments can vary between wet, dusty, cold, hot and high noise conditions.
• Work around automated equipment.

COMPENSATION

$46.82 per hour. Any adjustments in pay will be in accordance with Local 401 CBA.
