Job summary

Pursuit, based at the remote Columbia Icefield in Jasper National Park, is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic to maintain motorcoaches and equipment in a demanding mountain environment. This on-site role requires staying fit for outdoor work and a positive, problem-solving attitude.

You will diagnose, repair, and service engines from Detroit Diesel, CAT, MTU and Allison, carry toolsets, and coordinate with a team to keep operations safe and efficient for international guests.

Qualifications

• Must hold Alberta Heavy Duty Mechanic Journeyman certification or be a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year apprentice.
• Experience diagnosing Detroit Diesel, CAT, MTU and Allison engines and transmissions.
• Class 1, 2 or 3 driver’s license with airbrake endorsement is an asset.
• Must supply own tools up to ¾ inch and impact drives.
• Must pass criminal record check and adhere to safety policies.

Based at the remote Columbia Icefield in Jasper National Park, this on‑site living role places you 100 km from Jasper and surrounded by stunning glacier views and endless mountain adventure. You’ll be part of a destination that includes the Glacier View Lodge, dining outlets, retail, and the world‑famous Glacier Adventure and Skywalk. Staff live on‑site with accommodations and three hot meals per day.

As a Heavy Duty Mechanic at the Columbia Icefield, you will contribute in making the Columbia Icefield Adventure as safe as possible for our international guests. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, our #1 Core value of Safety 1st starts with you in ensuring the mechanical fitness of our motorcoaches, heavy equipment and 21 unique Ice Explorers.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILTIES

• Safety 1st! Ensure to follow adequate and proper safety procedures when performing any duties
• Perform preventative maintenance
• Diagnose equipment problems and determine repairs as needed
• Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance
• Service attachments and working tools
• Maintain a clean and tidy work area and assist with cleaning duties in working environment
• Maintain daily record of all works orders, part orders and other administrative tasks
• Demonstrate continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease downtime and improve processes
• Support colleagues and co-workers in their duties. Act as a coach and subject matter expert when it comes to everything vehicles
• Other duties as assigned

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Valid Alberta (or inter-provincial) Heavy Duty Mechanic Journeyman certification
• Also accepting resumes for 2nd, 3rd or 4th year apprentice
• Experience troubleshooting and diagnostics on Detroit Diesel, CAT, MTU and Allison engines/transmissions
• Familiar with MCI & Prevost highway coaches
• Class 1, 2 or 3 driver’s license with airbrake (Q) endorsement an asset
• Ability to supply own tools up to ¾” and impact drives
• Ability to think outside the box with a positive attitude, and problem-solving skills
• Mature, energetic, dependable and self-motivated
• Enjoy working with a team in a busy, fast-paced environment
• Must enjoy working outdoors, even in challenging mountain weather conditions
• Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods in an outdoor environment. Be prepared for all types of weather (Snow, Rain, Wind, Hail) at all times. The weather changes quickly at the Columbia Icefield
• Must adhere to the Company’s Drug and Alcohol policy
• Must meet the Organization grooming and appearance standards
• Must consent to a criminal record check
• Standard First-Aid or higher an asset
