Qualifications

• Must be registered or actively pursuing status as an Apprentice Electrician.
• Experience with new construction electrical work in commercial environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist with electrical installations on new construction projects, including a large data center and other commercial sites in the city.
• Support commercial construction work such as new builds, retrofits, and renovations in various facilities.
• Run and install conduit, including bending and installing conduit up to 4 inches as required by project specifications.
• Pull electrical wire and cable safely and efficiently according to drawings and standards.
• Assist with installation of electrical wiring, lighting systems, and associated equipment.
• Support the installation and maintenance of fire alarm systems as directed by advanced electricians.
• Read and interpret basic blueprints and drawings to understand routing for conduit, wiring, and equipment placement.
• Help with troubleshooting basic electrical issues under supervision and assist in repairs as needed.
• Follow all site safety procedures, including proper use of fall protection and adherence to WHMIS and CSTS requirements.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle tools, materials, and equipment responsibly.
• Travel reliably to different project locations using your own vehicle as required by project needs.
• Collaborate with journeypersons and other apprentices to complete tasks on schedule and to quality standards.

Essential Skills

• Registered or actively pursuing status as an Apprentice Electrician.
• Experience in new construction electrical work, particularly in commercial environments.
• Hands‑on experience with commercial construction projects, including new build commercial sites.
• Ability to bend conduit and run conduit up to 4 inches in diameter.
• Proficiency in pulling wire and installing electrical wiring and cable.
• Basic ability to read and follow blueprints and construction drawings.
• Understanding of lighting installation and basic electrical repair tasks.
• Valid WHMIS certification.
• Valid CSTS certification.
• Valid AWP (Aerial Work Platform) and Fall Pro certifications.
• Ability to work safely at heights and in active construction environments.
• Access to and ability to drive your own vehicle to various job sites.

Work Environment

You work primarily on active construction sites, including a major data center in the northeast area and potentially additional commercial sites in the southwest part of the city. The standard schedule runs Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with overtime available after 44 hours in a week. Weekend work may be available, with premium pay rates on Saturdays and Sundays at the data center site. The environment is typical of commercial and industrial construction, requiring the use of personal protective equipment and adherence to strict safety standards, including working at heights and using aerial work platforms. You regularly handle tools and materials related to conduit installation, wire pulling, lighting, and fire alarm systems, and you travel to different sites using your own vehicle as project needs change.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Calgary, AB.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $42.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
