Job summary

Weir, a global leader in mining technology, is seeking an Application Engineer in Mississauga, ON with a hybrid work arrangement. You will review customer requirements, perform equipment selections, and partner with sales to deliver technical and commercial proposals.

Travel across Canada will be occasional, and you will provide ongoing technical support while helping advance safe, sustainable mining solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Process, or Metallurgical engineering.
• Ability to review technical specs and develop technical-commercial proposals.
• Strong customer-facing communication and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of pumps, valves, and hydraulic systems selection.

Responsibilities

• Review customer requirements, RFQs, and challenges to develop proposals aligned with schedules.
• Select pumps, valves, and piping systems per specs to ensure fit and performance.
• Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer problems and build relationships across regions.
• Assemble technical and commercial proposal packages with cost evaluations.
• Provide ongoing technical support and document exceptions when necessary.
• Travel across Canada to support project delivery.
• Commit to safety culture in all activities.

What You’ll Do

• Solution Development: Review customer requirements, RFQs, and operational challenges to develop technically sound and commercially competitive equipment proposals aligned with project schedules and customer needs.
• Equipment Selection: Perform detailed pump, valve, and piping system selections based on technical specifications and customer operational requirements, ensuring optimal fit and performance.
• Customer & Sales Collaboration: Partner closely with capital and aftermarket sales teams to understand customer problems, maintain prompt communication, and build strong relationships that adapt to changing market demands.
• Proposal Management: Assemble comprehensive technical and commercial proposal packages, including evaluation of sourcing and delivery options, ensuring accuracy in project costing and timely updates in sales pipeline systems.
• Technical Support: Provide ongoing technical assistance to customers and frontline sales teams, reviewing specifications for compliance and documenting technical exceptions where necessary.
• Travel Requirements: Occasional travel across Canada to meet with end users and support project delivery, reflecting the coast-to-coast nature of the mining industry.

What You’ll Bring

Must-haves

• Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical, Process, Metallurgical required
• Proven ability to review and interpret technical specifications and develop technical-commercial proposals
• Customer-facing Experience With Strong Communication And Problem-solving Skills
• Knowledge of equipment selection processes, especially pumps, valves, and hydraulic systems

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in mining, mineral processing, or industrial equipment industries
• Familiarity with SAP, Salesforce, and Microsoft Office Suite applications
• Prior experience in sales support or manufacturing environments
• Understanding of sourcing, delivery logistics, and project scheduling considerations

Compensation Range: $80,000 to $93,000 CAD(Depending on experience)
