Job summary

Weir is seeking a Senior Account Manager for Calgary or Ft. McMurray, Canada, to manage key mining accounts generating $10M+ in annual revenue and drive strategic sales in Oil Sands, Hard Rock Mining and Comminution.

You will collaborate with Field Engineers, Product Managers, Engineering and Sales teams to convert revenue opportunities and provide technical support. You will lead business planning, deliver compelling sales presentations, participate in contract negotiations, and mentor junior

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing large accounts with significant revenue responsibility in mining or heavy industrial related industries.
  • A 4-year Engineering degree or CET certification, with knowledge of mining equipment, materials, and technologies, specifically pumps and rotating equipment is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans and achieve or exceed targets.

Responsibilities

  • Account Management: Manage key accounts generating $10M+ in annual revenue by developing and maintaining strong relationships with senior management and key decision makers.
  • Sales Strategy: Develop and implement strategic plans to drive new equipment and aftermarket sales within Oil Sands, Hard Rock Mining, and Comminution sectors.
  • Technical Expertise: Apply an enhanced technical understanding of Weir’s product portfolio including design, installation, operation, and maintenance to support customer needs and exceed sales targets.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Field Engineers, Product Managers, Engineering, and Sales teams to convert every revenue opportunity and provide technical and aftermarket support.
  • Business Planning: Create and execute comprehensive business plans and account reviews covering all market segments, product technologies, services, and competitor activities to align with company goals.
  • Sales Presentations: Conduct professional sales presentations to all levels within customer organizations to secure new business and strengthen partnerships.
  • Contract Negotiation: Review and actively participate in commercial contract negotiations to ensure favorable terms and compliance.
  • Mentorship: Serve as a leader and mentor within the Sales Team, supporting Account Managers and Inside Sales personnel to foster team growth and development.
  • CRM Utilization: Consistently use CRM applications to manage sales opportunities and track progress through all stages.
  • Travel: This is a 50% travel position primarily within Alberta. Candidates based in Fort McMurray may experience less frequent travel.

What You’ll Do
  • Account Management: Manage key accounts generating $10M+ in annual revenue by developing and maintaining strong relationships with senior management and key decision makers. Daily activities include engaging with customers to understand their needs and ensuring Weir’s solutions meet or exceed expectations. Success means growing account revenue and customer satisfaction.
  • Sales Strategy: Develop and implement strategic plans to drive new equipment and aftermarket sales within Oil Sands, Hard Rock Mining, and Comminution sectors. This involves analyzing market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities.
  • Technical Expertise: Apply an enhanced technical understanding of Weir’s product portfolio including design, installation, operation, and maintenance to support customer needs and exceed sales targets. The role requires deep knowledge of pumps and rotating equipment.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Field Engineers, Product Managers, Engineering, and Sales teams to convert every revenue opportunity and provide technical and aftermarket support. This ensures seamless customer experience and maximizes sales potential.
