STORY DEV SUPPORT

The Development Support team member collaborates with development teams to provide early testing, create documentation (e.g., test cases, test briefs, QA Confluence pages), and handle tasks that could potentially keep a Core QA team member out of the game. They provide feedback to QA Leads on the health of their area/feature(s) and to the development team on the testing of their area/feature(s). They are the primary contact for the QA team, fielding design questions from Core QA and serving as the initial point of contact for development teams regarding the status of testing or adjustments needed for Core QA testing.

Terms:

  • 18-month contract
  • Hybrid (3 days on-site, 2 days remote)

Responsibilities:

  • Early Testing and Documentation:Conduct early testing and create necessary documentation such as test cases, test briefs, and QA Confluence pages.
  • Feedback and Communication:Provide feedback to QA Leads on the health of their area/feature(s) and communicate with development teams on testing progress and needs.
  • Primary QA Contact:Act as the primary contact for the QA team, addressing design questions from Core QA and coordinating with development teams on testing status and adjustments.
  • Support Core QA:Handle tasks that could keep Core QA team members out of the game, ensuring they can focus on critical testing activities.

Requirements:

  • Development Cycle Experience:Multiple development cycle experience with a focus on Cinematics, In-game moments, Environment testing, or Content testing.
  • Cinematic Workflows and Development Phases:Strong understanding of cinematic workflows and development phases.
  • Cinematic Triggers & Transitions:
  • Ensure cinematics trigger at the correct time (e.g., after completing an objective).
  • Verify seamless transitions between gameplay and cutscenes.
  • Check if cinematics properly skip or replay when prompted.
  • Ensure lip-sync matches voiceovers for all supported languages.
  • Check dialogue timing and audio mixing (e.g., no overlapping or missing lines).
  • Verify sound effects and music cues trigger correctly.
  • Test audio balancing (voice, music, and SFX levels).
  • Validate cinematic camera angles, movements, and framing.
  • Check for camera clipping (objects or characters blocking the view).
  • Ensure smooth animation transitions between scenes and gameplay.
  • Test facial animations for emotional accuracy and realism.
  • Ensure lighting and particle effects match the intended mood.
  • Verify textures, character models, and environmental assets load correctly.
  • Identify visual glitches (e.g., flickering, T-posing, missing assets).
  • Performance & Platform-Specific Testing:
  • Ensure cinematics run smoothly across different hardware.
  • Check frame rate consistency (avoiding stuttering or drops).
  • Verify 4K, HDR, and aspect ratio scaling for different display settings.
  • Co-op & Multiplayer Testing:
  • Test synchronized cutscenes in co-op mode (ensuring all players see the same cinematic).
  • Verify player-controlled characters appear correctly in cutscenes.
  • Ensure no desync issues between host and client players.
  • Testing Instructions and Briefs:Experience writing testing instructions or briefs.
  • Estimating Testing Efforts:Experience estimating testing efforts.
  • Learning and Development:Willingness to learn new technologies and develop/refine skills.
  • Documentation and Organization:Strong documentation and organization skills.
  • Communication Skills:Strong communication skills, comfortable interfacing with QA and Production teams.
