Job description

Reporting to the Director of IT, this position will be the technical leader for the Bunzl GRP (Grocery, Retail & Processor) and R3 (Redistribution) segments, providing technical support for a suite of applications within our internal and external information space. You will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and improving the use of these applications, as well as implementing new ones. Collaboration with application development and support teams, business partners, infrastructure specialists, and application vendors is essential. The role also involves establishing and maintaining key relationships within the enterprise for better communication, planning, and deliverables.

Responsibilities

1. Act as a liaison between business and technical resources to help build solutions and manage projects.
2. Manage application enhancements, EDI integrations, and resolve production support issues using skills such as coding, configuration, and data queries, with a willingness to learn new skills.
3. Develop a deep understanding of application architecture and workflows related to data movement across systems.
4. Create documentation to capture and share subject matter expertise within teams.
5. Engage effectively with team members and business partners to maintain strong, honest relationships.
6. Identify opportunities to improve applications and automate IT processes.
7. Implement new applications to support business needs, becoming the IT subject matter expert.
8. Travel as needed – up to 20% within Canada and occasionally the United States.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Commerce, Logistics / Supply Chain, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
2. Three (3) years of application support and/or business analysis experience, or five (5) years of experience with supply-chain management, warehouse management, or similar systems.
3. Experience supporting and/or using ERP systems.
4. Experience supporting e-commerce platforms and CRM applications.
5. Curiosity to learn, troubleshoot, and understand root causes of issues.
6. Strong leadership and communication skills to manage cross-functional teams and build relationships.
7. Experience with IBM i or zSeries systems is an asset.
8. Project management certification or experience is an asset.
