Job summary

Esri Canada is seeking an applications specialist to deliver GIS demonstrations and training, lead requirements analysis, and configure Esri platforms. You will manage technical activities for mid-size engagements and design solutions using Esri technology to meet client objectives.

Based in Kingston, the role requires 5+ years in GIS solution delivery, security clearance eligibility, and the ability to work in a hybrid environment with strong collaboration across teams and clients.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in computer science, engineering, geography, GIS, information technology, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience designing, configuring, and implementing GIS-based solutions in a professional services, consulting, or client-facing technical environment.
• Ability to attain Canadian Federal Government – Secret clearance, with priority for cleared candidates.
• Experience working with Esri products in a military intelligence capacity is a plus.
• Esri Certification in ArcGIS Desktop/Online/Maps/Python is a plus.

Responsibilities

Job description

A day in the life of an Application Specialist at Esri Canada:

• Deliver product demonstrations and training to prospective and existing customers.
• Manage assigned technical activities for small to medium professional services engagements, delivering solutions that align with defined scope, schedule, and quality objectives.
• Lead and contribute to requirements clarification, needs analysis, and functional solution design using off‑the‑shelf Esri technology.
• Configure, deploy, upgrade, and support Esri platforms, including desktop, server, geodatabase, web, and mobile applications.
• Design and implement GIS‑based solutions that address client business objectives, applying appropriate standards, methods, and tools.
• Provide technical input, validation, and estimates in support of proposals, statements of work, and project planning activities.
• Identify and resolve technical issues within assigned accountability, escalating issues that fall outside established frameworks.
• Collaborate effectively with project team members and cross‑functional groups to support successful project delivery.
• Provide technical guidance and informal mentoring to junior resources as required within assigned project work.

What you bring to the team:

• Post‑secondary degree or diploma in computer science, engineering, geography, GIS, information technology, or related field.
• An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience designing, configuring, and implementing GIS‑based solutions in a professional services, consulting, or client‑facing technical environment.
• Experience working with Esri products in a military intelligence capacity is considered an asset.
• Esri Technical Certification in one or more relevant areas (such as ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript, or ArcGIS API for Python) is considered an asset.
• Must reside in the Kingston region.
• Ability to attain Canadian Federal Government – Secret clearance, with priority given to candidates who already possess this level of clearance.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze business needs and translate requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Proven experience configuring and supporting ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, and related Esri technologies.

This role offers a base salary range of $86,900 to $103,200 annually, determined based on experience, skills, and internal equity.
