Job Title : Application and Training Specialist

Reports to : IT Manager, Applications

Work Description

The Application and Training Specialist is responsible for delivering second and third-tier user support and facilitating applications training to The Taggart Group of Companies' internal staff on corporate systems. The role directly supports the day-to-day operational functions of the business and requires the ability to communicate effectively with end users, from office staff to field staff. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical and functional problem-solving skills with a keen business sense to deliver high-quality customer service support.

Major Responsibilities :

  1. Provide second and third-tier application support for incoming queries and issues from employees related to existing and new business applications.
  2. Prepare, coordinate, and lead application training sessions and create supporting training documentation for all end-users.
  3. Assist with development and maintenance of custom configurations in various business-critical applications.
  4. Coordinate regularly with departments to ensure support, and prepare technical reports; review and revise training materials and documentation for end users.
  5. Provide input on information technology practices, policies, and procedures for implementing new business applications or enhancements to current applications.
  6. Assist with writing and disseminating regular IT updates to end users about upcoming changes.
  7. Assist with system checks, updates, and quality assurance for various applications.
  8. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure processes and technical solutions are effectively integrated and optimized.
  9. Proactively seek opportunities to educate users on new application features.
  10. Participate in various application projects and other ad-hoc projects as needed.
  11. Assist with researching new technologies and best practices to improve business solutions, systems, and processes.
  12. Perform other duties as required.

Statement of Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  1. Post-secondary education in Information Technology or a related field is a strong asset.
  2. Minimum of three to five years of practical experience in the IT field working on various applications; experience with system analysis is a plus.
  3. Experience in desk-side support and technical support for ERPs and operational software.
  4. Strong knowledge of the Microsoft environment, with SharePoint and/or Power Platform experience being a strong asset.
  5. Ability to quickly learn new applications and technologies.
  6. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, including the ability to present training sessions to groups of varying sizes.
  7. Experience designing, developing, and delivering training sessions for diverse audiences, both in person and virtually.
  8. Strong analytical skills and experience in application implementation.
  9. Experience with ERP and/or CRM systems is a strong asset.
  10. Experience in the construction industry is a plus.
  11. Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  12. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills to build working relationships.
  13. Ability to work independently and maintain discretion with user information.
  14. A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle are assets for visiting job sites.

Physical / Sensory Effort / Work Environment :

  1. A busy and sometimes loud work environment, including visiting construction sites and residential developments as needed.
  2. Providing service to multiple people, companies, or departments, often working under tight deadlines across several projects.
  3. Overtime may be required.
