Job summary

Kitchener-Waterloo Stratford Perth Humane Society is hiring for a Field Compliance Officer to protect animals and the community. You’ll investigate bylaw infractions, enforce licensing, patrol parks, and respond to animal welfare concerns with compassion and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Police Foundations or Law & Security, Animal Health Technology; knowledge of Animal Welfare desirable.
• Valid class G driver license with clean driving record.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to provide/maintain a clean Driver Abstract.
• Ability to provide/maintain a clean Police Clearance Certificate.
• Able to wear required PPE.
• Ability to build strong relationships with staff, volunteers, customers, partners and the public.
• Passionate about animal welfare with commitment to responsible pet ownership.
• Strong sense of responsibility, excellent communication, and adherence to animal protection laws.

Responsibilities

• Investigate bylaw infractions related to animal control for Kitchener, Waterloo, Stratford-Perth and municipalities.
• Enforce companion animal licensing and issue Provincial Offence Notices.
• Patrol city parks, operating the Humane Society vehicle or on foot.
• Pick up deceased animals; transport stray animals to the animal centre.
• Take witness statements, gather evidence, and prepare court documents.
• Keep accurate notes and complete reports.
• Appear and testify in court proceedings and appeal tribunals.
