Job summary

Semex / Boviteq in Saint-Hyacinthe, QC, is seeking an Animal Health Technician to support the health and development of bulls on site. The role runs Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, in-person at our Saint-Hyacinthe location.

Responsibilities include entering animal data, handling animals during veterinary procedures, collaborating on diagnoses, and maintaining drug/material inventories. Requires College diploma in animal health technology and strong livestock care knowledge.

Qualifications

• Rigor and professionalism required.
• College diploma in animal health technology is mandatory.
• Good knowledge of livestock care and handling.
• Ability and experience operating farm equipment.
• Physically capable of handling cows and standing/walking for long periods.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
• Ability to follow Biosecurity protocols and SOPs.

About the R ole

We are currently looking for an Animal Health Technician who will work under the direction of the Farm Manager and in close collaboration with the farm team to support the health, well‑being, and development of all bulls on site. The working hours of the role are Monday to Friday 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM.

What You Will Do:

• Enter animal data into files and other computer programs.
• Handle, immobilize, and care for animals during and after veterinary manipulations.
• Collaborate in the diagnosis by transmitting detected clinical observations.
• Maintain up-to-date inventories of drugs and materials necessary for animal health interventions.

What You Need to Succeed:

• Rigor and professionalism
• College diploma in animal health technology
• Good knowledge of livestock care
• Ability and experience operating farm equipment
• To be physically capable of handling cows, walking/standing for extended periods and other physical tasks
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in at team
• Ability to follow Biosecurity protocols and related SOP’s

This is an in-person role requiring 5 days per week in our Saint-Hyacinthe location. This position offers a minimum starting salary of $22.25/hour, with potential compensation enhancements based on applicable experience and qualifications.
