Job summary

Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) in Brantford, Ontario, is seeking an Anesthesia Assistant (AA) to join our hospital teams. An AA is a Registered Respiratory Therapist or Registered Nurse holding a CSRT-certified AA credential, working under an Anesthesiologist to deliver safe anesthesia care.

The AA will monitor patients, assist in anesthesia administration, perform pre-op assessments, and support the nursing team to ensure comfort and safety across the surgical journey.

Qualifications

Advanced diploma or nursing degree with CCAA certification is required.
Current licenses with Ontario College of Respiratory Therapists or College of Nurses of Ontario.
Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification current; ACLS/PALS preferred.

Responsibilities

Induct patients and monitor during anesthesia as directed by the anesthesiologist.
Provide diagnostic data (blood gases, pulse oximetry, CO2 monitoring).
Prepare patients pre-operatively, insert lines/tubes, and position safely.
Maintain anesthesia-related equipment and ensure patient safety.
Assist and monitor patients in the anesthesia block room.
