We are looking for a qualified Anesthesia Assistant to join our team!

As an Anesthesia Assistant, you will participate in the care of paediatric patients undergoing general, regional or local anesthetic or procedural sedation under the direct supervision and / or immediate availability of the Anesthesiologist. Within a collaborative practice agreement, you will assist the Anesthesiologist in the delivery of anesthesia or procedural sedation to the paediatric patient during the pre-, intra-, and immediate postoperative periods of care.

You are authorized to practice within your respective scope of practice as a regulated health professional (RN or RT) and may perform duties beyond your scope of practice under medical directives. You will provide clinical and technical assistance to optimize safe care of pediatric patients in various hospital areas, including the OR, Sedation Unit, and satellite anesthesia areas. You will also be involved in providing moderate to deep sedation for procedures throughout the hospital.

Here's What You'll Do

  • Assess patients' health status through critical thinking
  • Participate actively within the healthcare team
  • Use evidence-based practices to ensure professional accountability
  • Provide safe and ethical anesthesia care
  • Maintain clinical competence through ongoing education

Here's What You'll Need

  • Completion of an accredited Anesthesia Assistant program with practicum
  • Bachelor Degree in Health Sciences
  • Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario or College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
  • Minimum 5 years pediatric critical care experience or equivalent
  • Experience in a peri-operative environment is an asset
  • Commitment to equity, diversity & inclusion

Employment Type : Full-Time - 1.00 FTE
