Your role and responsibilities

We are looking for an After-Sales Service (SAV) Engineer/Technician to handle the commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of analytical systems used in the metallurgical industry, directly at client sites worldwide. This key position within the after-sales service (SAV) department requires a technical professional with hands-on experience in instrumentation, automation, and analytical systems. The ideal candidate will ensure optimal equipment performance, provide effective technical support, and ensure customer satisfaction.

  1. Install, commission, calibrate, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on ABB analytical systems at client sites.
  2. Diagnose and repair faults in analytical instruments, minimizing production downtime.
  3. Provide after-sales technical support and propose solutions tailored to client needs.
  4. Train clients and on-site personnel on the use and maintenance of equipment.
  5. Perform system updates when necessary.
  6. Write detailed service reports outlining interventions, corrective actions, and recommendations.
  7. Collaborate with engineering and product development teams to improve system reliability.
  8. Adhere to safety standards and regulations during interventions.
  9. Travel internationally to perform after-sales service missions, sometimes on short notice.
  10. Maintain a strong customer service orientation and contribute to revenue growth by proposing product and service sales.
Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, physics, mechanical, electromechanical, or related engineering field.
  • Experience with analytical systems, spectroscopy, gas analysis, or industrial automation technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of electronics, sensors, PLCs, and industrial communication protocols.
  • Minimum of 3 years of on-site troubleshooting and repair experience in an international after-sales service context.
  • Ability to work independently and manage frequent international travel.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and customer service orientation.
  • Proficiency in English and French, both spoken and written. French is required; English is also required for communication outside Quebec.
  • Availability to travel internationally (up to 70% of the time).
