The Securities Operations team supports investment groups in transacting across various global markets and jurisdictions. The team manages investment middle office functions critical to the lifecycle of investment products in the portfolio.

The Analyst plays a key role in managing workflows related to global market requirements, including trade settlements, income entitlement, valuation practices, corporate actions, compliance & policy monitoring, and onboarding of counterparties. Products include equities, fixed income, repos, short selling, private investments, and exposure to cash, collateral, commercial paper, securities, and deposits.

Our hybrid work guideline requires teams to come to the office a minimum of 4 days per week.

Responsibilities

The Analyst will undertake activities including:

  • Managing the book of record for transactions to ensure accurate trade settlement, cash entitlements, valuations, and reporting.
  • Performing daily verifications between the trading system and book of record, analyzing discrepancies, and resolving issues.
  • Ensuring timely confirmation and settlement of transactions by coordinating with traders and brokers.
  • Managing trade activity to adhere to policies and regulations.
  • Completing market opening requests and maintaining ongoing market requirements.
  • Analyzing corporate actions and their impacts on settlements, valuations, and reporting.
  • Preparing management reports on trade limits, compliance, cash forecasts, and settlements, highlighting outliers.
  • Implementing process improvements and automation where possible.
  • Developing and updating documentation supporting policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring compliance with OMERS policies and applicable regulations.
  • Maintaining knowledge of investment products and customer needs to respond effectively.
  • Fostering relationships with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders.
  • Supporting audits with accurate and complete information.

Qualifications

  • University degree in finance or a related field; working towards CFA or CPA preferred. Relevant courses are an asset.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in investment operations, with knowledge of public market instruments.
  • Experience with private markets and cash/collateral administration is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Detail-oriented with analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with investment accounting, reporting, and audit practices.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word; experience with investment systems required.
  • Experience with Calypso, Charles River, Bloomberg is an asset.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and eagerness to learn.
