How will you make an impact in this role?

Our Project Management team, responsible for leading and supporting projects from inception to delivery, is now hiring an Assistant Manager. You will lead the way with a customer and shareholder-centric mindset, a passion for tackling challenging issues, and an unwavering drive to succeed. This role involves working closely with key stakeholders across American Express to support the flawless execution of strategic initiatives.

As an Assistant Manager in our Project Management Office, you will support and lead projects, build cross-functional relationships, and develop skills including strategic thinking, analytics, communication, problem-solving, and leadership.

The experience we offer:
  • An opportunity to partner with product teams such as Consumer Cards, Global Corporate Payments, and Global Merchant Services for end-to-end project management and execution.
  • Collaborate across broader American Express teams (Technologies, Legal, Compliance, Operational Risk, Operations, etc.) to deliver efficiencies, processes, services, and enhanced Cardmember experiences.
  • Contribute to driving the digital agenda through capability development and implementation.
  • Facilitate excellence in project management, monitor results, and develop recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Support day-to-day partner relationships.
  • Showcase communication, influencing, and collaboration skills with internal and external partners.
  • Grow personally and professionally through development planning and mentorship.
Responsibilities include:
  • Planning, executing, and monitoring project activities to align with organizational goals.
  • Preparing and presenting status reports to stakeholders.
  • Maintaining project documentation.
  • Recommending process improvements.
  • Building stakeholder relationships for effective communication.
  • Assessing and monitoring project risks with mitigation strategies.
  • Creating presentations for stakeholders and leadership.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Project Management, or related field.
  • Ability to lead projects from conception to evaluation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Organizational abilities and experience managing tasks.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and fast-paced environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of project management experience.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Visio).
