Job summary

FP Inc. in Canada is seeking an analyst to draft and review ISDA confirmations for OTC derivative transactions, primarily equity products, with growth to other asset classes. The role involves direct negotiation with counterparties and proactive issue escalation.

This 6-month contract requires meticulous attention to detail, strong written/verbal communication, and a client-service mindset to support London, Toronto and New York teams and regulatory initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating OTC derivative confirmations.
  • Knowledge of equity derivative products (swaps, options, exotics).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high volumes with accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a client-service orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and review ISDA confirmations covering plain vanilla and structured OTC derivative transactions, initially covering the equity asset classes and thereafter supporting other asset classes.
  • Escalate unusual behaviour and processing issues to the Team Manager following the policy.
  • Assist the Team Manager/Department Head on projects, process improvements or new business initiatives.
  • Ensure documentation complies with regulations, ISDA and market practice, or note variations and obtain acknowledgement.

Job description

An Initial AI Screening will be conducted for this role

Contract Duration: 6 months

Daily Responsibilities
  • Draft and review ISDA confirmations covering plain vanilla and structured OTC derivative transactions, initially covering the equity asset classes and thereafter supporting other asset classes, as necessary, and directly negotiate terms of the confirmation with counterparties
  • Escalate any unusual behaviour as well as any processing issues to the Team Manager promptly following the BCS Escalation Policy
  • Assist the Team Manager / Department Head on projects, process improvements or new business initiatives as requested
  • Ensure that all documentation complies with jurisdictional regulations, ISDA and current market practice, or where there are variations, that they are acknowledged and understood by the appropriate individuals and teams
  • Daily chase and follow up on all outstanding (unsigned) confirmations
  • Eliminate lengthy delays in confirmation execution and eliminate inevitable delays promptly and appropriately
  • Be an information conduit between London, Toronto & New York Derivative Confirmations teams
  • Take on ad hoc projects related to cost reduction and efficiency enhancement goals
  • Participate in regular team meetings which also include but is not limited to knowledge sharing on a specific derivative product
  • Regulatory initiatives – assist Regional Management to pre-emptively adapt to evolving regulatory requirements, stay abreast of the latest developments (e.g. DFA, Clearing) and their implications to make recommendations.
  • Track and govern self-identified gaps and audit comments
  • Continue to develop product/market knowledge to ensure daily processes effectively mitigate operational risks
  • Support colleagues during busy periods by sharing workload as applicable. This includes cross-training on other desks within the department to provide relief during absences and high-volume periods

  • CFA or relevant financial certification
  • Experience with Sophis, Actiflow, or Nemo
  • Python/VBA skills (for process automation or efficiency projects)
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as Dodd-Frank, EMIR, or clearing requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly for negotiating confirmation terms with external counterparties
  • Persistent and proactive follow-up ability — comfortable chasing outstanding items without letting things slip

  • Collaborative team player willing to cross-train and share workload during peak periods
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple outstanding items simultaneously
  • Comfortable escalating issues promptly and clearly when needed
