Job summary

Treetops Montessori School in West Vancouver invites applications for an AMI-trained Casa Montessori Assistant. This part-time role supports a 2.5–6 year old Casa classroom, with start in Sept 2026.

Salary is in proportion to education and experience, with potential to extend hours as enrollment allows. Ideal candidates hold AMI Assistant training, BC ECE or ECEA, First Aid/CPR/AED, and experience with young children.

Qualifications

• AM I Montessori philosophy and child development understanding; willingness to continue learning.
• Support the prepared environment and maintain calm, respectful classroom dynamics while protecting children’s concentration and independence.
• Strong spoken and written English; French is an asset.
• Comfortable learning and using digital tools for classroom documentation and communication.
• 2+ years of experience with children; AMI Montessori or early learning preferred.
• BC ECE or Early Childhood Educator Assistant certificate.
• AMI Assistant Orientation/Training or equivalent AMI Montessori assistant training.
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
• Criminal Record Check and required health assessment and immunization records per licensing requirements.
• Must maintain all current certifications, clearances, and documentation required by licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the AMI Guide to maintain a calm, beautiful, orderly, and prepared Casa environment.
• Prepare and maintain Montessori materials and classroom resources.
• Protect the Guide’s time for presentations and observations and conserve children’s concentration.
• Assist with classroom routines, transitions, outdoor activities, and daily-care needs.
• Support children in developing independence, confidence, grace and courtesy, social skills, and respectful behaviour.
• Observe children and convey relevant observations to the Montessori Guide.
• Support children’s safety, health, and emotional well-being.
• Maintain classroom cleanliness, organization, and readiness; assist with daily cleaning and end-of-day reset.
• Record observations and other required information using the school’s online systems.

Treetops Montessori School is seeking an AMI-trained Montessori Casa Assistant to join our 2.5– 6 year old Casa classroom. Located in West Vancouver near Taylor Way, Treetops has provided quality Montessori preschool programming since 1993.

• Part-time: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
• Start Date: September 2026
• Salary: In proportion with education and experience
• Pending enrollment, there may be an opportunity to extend hours into the afternoon, up to approximately 3:30 p.m.

• Solid understanding of AMI Montessori philosophy, pedagogy, and child development, with a willingness to continue learning.
• Ability to support the prepared environment and maintain calm, respectful classroom dynamics while protecting children’s concentration, independence, and freedom within appropriate limits.
• Strong spoken and written English; French is an asset.
• Comfortable learning and using digital tools for classroom documentation and communication.
• 2+ years of experience working with children preferred, ideally in an AMI Montessori or early learning environment.
• BC Early Childhood Educator or Early Childhood Educator Assistant certificate.
• AMI Assistant Orientation/Training or equivalent AMI Montessori assistant training.

Key Responsibilities

The Casa Montessori Assistant works under the direction of the AMI Montessori Guide, supporting the Guide’s work and collaborating with the teaching team rather than independently directing the classroom.

Supporting the Montessori Environment & Guide

• Work closely with the AMI Guide to maintain a calm, beautiful, orderly, and prepared Casa environment.
• Prepare and maintain Montessori materials and classroom resources.
• Support and protect the Guide’s time for presentations and observations and protect children’s concentration throughout the three-hour work cycle.
• Assist with classroom routines, transitions, outdoor activities, and daily-care needs.
• Support children in developing independence, confidence, grace and courtesy, social skills, and respectful behaviour.
• Observe children and communicate relevant observations to the Montessori Guide.
• Support children’s safety, health, and emotional well-being.

Classroom Care & Documentation

• Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and readiness of the classroom throughout the day, including daily cleaning and end-of-day reset.
• Record observations and other required information accurately using the school’s online systems and tools.

Teamwork & Professional Responsibilities

• Communicate openly and respectfully with the Guide and teaching team.
• Bring forward constructive ideas, observations, and concerns.
• Receive feedback with humility and a genuine willingness to learn, improve, and adapt.
• Take initiative and contribute to improving the classroom, team, and overall program.
• Follow school policies, licensing, health and safety requirements, and maintain confidentiality.
• Participate in meetings, training, professional development, and school events as required.
