Summit Air, headquartered in Yellowknife, NWT, is hiring an AME Apprentice to join our aviation team. Under the direction of a qualified AME, you will service a growing fleet across Canada and support maintenance tasks on aircraft and components.

The role requires an Aircraft Maintenance Diploma or relevant training, a personal toolbox, and strong troubleshooting, teamwork and communication skills. Schedule is 7 on/7 off with long shifts, and compensation ranges from $55,490 to $63,240 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct maintenance on aircraft and components as directed by the AME Team Lead.
  • Perform maintenance per airworthiness standards.
  • Accurately complete paperwork for tasks in a timely manner.
  • Perform independent checks if trained and authorized.
  • Troubleshoot faulty systems with Lead AME.
  • Assist with engine runs and aircraft towing as trained.
  • Conduct hangar clean up.
  • Assist with sheet metal repairs as required.

Position: AME Apprentice

Employment Type: Full-Time

As an Apprentice AME, you are driven and self-motivated, previously having gained some experience working on large, fixed wing aircraft. Under the direction of a qualified AME, you will join our skilled team of aviation professionals at Summit Air, servicing our diverse and growing fleet.

Summit Air, headquartered in Yellowknife, NWT, operates across Canada, specializing in passenger charters, cargo transport, and customized flight solutions for industry-leading clients with a legacy of excellence in northern and remote aviation. We’re growing our fleet across Canada and are seeking to hire AME Apprentice.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Conduct maintenance on aircraft and aircraft components as directed by the AME Team Lead
  • Perform all maintenance activities in accordance with the applicable standards of air worthiness
  • Accurately complete all paperwork for assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Perform independent and critical task checks if trained and authorized to do so
  • Troubleshoot faulty systems to determine a course of rectification in conjunction with the Lead AME
  • Perform various duties including engine runs and aircraft towing, as trained and authorized to do so
  • Conduct hangar clean up
  • Assist with sheet metal repairs as required
Minimum Qualifications / Education
  • Aircraft Maintenance Diploma, or relevant training
  • Must have own basic mechanics toolbox

Working Conditions
  • Full Time
  • Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off rotation with 11.4-hour day and night shifts, averaging 40 hours per week.
  • Working outside in all weather conditions
Compensation

$55,490 - $63,240
