Job summary

University of Fredericton is seeking an Alumni Engagement Officer to lead the alumni relations program and create meaningful opportunities for graduates to stay connected beyond graduation. You will design and deliver programs, communications, partnerships, and signature events that foster an engaged alumni community and active participation in university life.

The role focuses on strategy, storytelling, partnerships, and data-driven improvements, with a remote-friendly setup in New Brunswick

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in alumni relations, community engagement, relationship management, communications, marketing, partnership development, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and leading engagement programs, events, or community-building initiatives.
  • Experience working in a higher education environment is an asset.
  • Experience using CRM platforms and digital engagement tools is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evolve a comprehensive Alumni Relations strategy and annual operating plan.
  • Recommend annual priorities, initiatives, budgets, and success measures aligned with institutional goals.
  • Research emerging trends and best practices to strengthen alumni engagement and enhance the alumni experience.
  • Monitor program performance, analyze outcomes, and recommend continuous improvements based on engagement data and alumni feedback.
  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships with alumni through ongoing engagement and personalized outreach.
  • Develop and deliver an annual alumni engagement program with networking events, webinars, Convocation ceremonies, recognition programs, and regional gatherings.
  • Lead the planning and execution of Convocation ceremonies and alumni engagement platforms like UFred Connect.
  • Develop and execute an alumni communications strategy across newsletters, social media, and digital content.
  • Identify and share alumni success stories to demonstrate impact of UFred education.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to support recruitment, brand awareness, and alumni engagement.
  • Lead alumni recognition initiatives that celebrate graduate achievements and strengthen pride.
  • Develop and grow programs that encourage alumni to serve as ambassadors, mentors, volunteers, and speakers.
  • Collaborate across the University to integrate alumni engagement into recruitment and student experiences.
  • Represent the University professionally in interactions with alumni and external stakeholders.
  • Collect and analyze alumni feedback and engagement data to inform strategy and reports.
  • Manage projects, budgets, and administrative activities to ensure effective delivery.

As our Alumni Engagement Officer, you'll play a key role in developing and leading the University's alumni relations program, creating meaningful opportunities for graduates to remain connected to the University and one another beyond graduation. Qualifications
Education & Experience

  • Lead the planning and execution of the University's Convocation ceremonies, creating a meaningful graduate experience that celebrates student achievement and marks the beginning of each graduate's lifelong relationship with the University.
  • Lead engagement within UFred Connect and other alumni engagement platforms to foster an active and connected alumni community.
Alumni Storytelling & Communications
  • Develop and execute an alumni communications strategy that keeps graduates informed, connected, and engaged through newsletters, social media, digital content, and other communication channels.
  • Identify, cultivate, and share alumni success stories that demonstrate the impact of a UFred education.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop content that supports recruitment, brand awareness, institutional reputation, and alumni engagement.
  • Lead alumni recognition initiatives that celebrate graduate achievements and strengthen alumni pride.
Alumni Advocacy & Partnerships
  • Develop and grow programs that encourage alumni to serve as ambassadors, mentors, volunteers, speakers, referral partners, and community champions.
  • Collaborate across the University to integrate alumni engagement into recruitment, student experience, academic initiatives, and other institutional priorities.
  • Represent the University professionally in interactions with alumni, community partners, and external stakeholders.
Data, Insights & Administration
  • Working in collaboration with the Student Services Team, collect and analyze alumni feedback, surveys, and engagement data to better understand alumni experiences, interests, and outcomes.
  • Prepare reports that measure the effectiveness of Alumni Relations initiatives and inform future strategy.
  • Manage Alumni Relations projects, budgets, and administrative activities to ensure effective program delivery.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Hours of Work

This is a full-time permanent position (35 hours per week) under regular business hours. The position is based in Fredericton, NB, with the option to work remotely from anywhere in New Brunswick and attend in-person meetings as required.
