Job summary

AltaGas is seeking an Operator 4 to join the Enerchem Partnership facility in Slave Lake, Alberta. This shiftwork hourly role supports senior team members to ensure safe, compliant operation and reliable production.

Responsibilities include logs, routine maintenance, process monitoring, equipment troubleshooting, and safe work practices. Candidates should have a valid Class 5 licence and relevant industry exposure; power engineering credentials are assets.

Qualifications

• Adjust and troubleshoot equipment, including chemical injection systems, pumps, filters, and instrumentation.
• Support safe work permitting processes, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Confined Space Entry requirements.
• Perform product transfers, tank management, and shipping-related activities as required.
• Maintain and service plant equipment, including filters, strainers, transmitters, and related process components.
• Demonstrate knowledge of plant process flow, operating systems, and product streams.

AltaGas - Operator 4, Slave Lake

AltaGas is seeking an Operator 4 to join the Enerchem Partnership facility in Slave Lake, Alberta. Reporting to the Assistant Plant Manager, and indirectly to the Plant Manager, this position is a shiftwork hourly role. The Operator 4 is a junior to intermediate-level position with minimal supervision duties and supports senior team members in ensuring all activities at the facility are completed safely and in compliance with AltaGas and applicable third-party policies, procedures, and requirements.

You Will:

• Complete plant logs, chemical logs, sampling, and laboratory testing independently.
• Perform routine weekly and monthly maintenance activities without supervision.
• Operate and monitor plant processes to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production.
• Adjust and troubleshoot equipment, including chemical injection systems, pumps, filters, and instrumentation.
• Support safe work permitting processes, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Confined Space Entry requirements.
• Perform product transfers, tank management, and shipping-related activities as required.
• Maintain and service plant equipment, including filters, strainers, transmitters, and related process components.
• Demonstrate knowledge of plant process flow, operating systems, and product streams.
• Safely transition plant systems between operating modes, including recycle and production states.
• Participate in plant optimization, continuous improvement initiatives, and assigned Plant Champion responsibilities.
• Promote a strong safety culture through hazard identification, reporting, and compliance with AltaGas policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Support the training and development of less experienced operators as required.

You Have:

• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
• Previous experience in an industrial, oil and gas, chemical processing, or manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and an interest in learning plant operations and process equipment is an asset
• 4th Class Power Engineering certificate would be considered an asset
• Familiarity with safe work practices, hazard identification, and permit-to-work systems is an asset.
• Strong willingness to learn, develop technical competencies, and work effectively as part of a team.
