AltaGas Ltd. is seeking a Data Analytics & Process Automation Co-op Student to assist with data analytics, BI reporting, and automation initiatives across Midstream projects.

You will work with multiple data sources, help improve reporting, and develop solutions to drive efficiency. Ideal candidates are pursuing an undergrad in analytics or related fields, with strong Excel, plus exposure to Power BI, SQL, and Python.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in 2nd or 3rd year of an undergraduate program in a relevant field.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Interest in data analytics, BI, AI, automation and process improvement.
• Ability to work with large datasets and translate insights.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Experience with Excel.
• Exposure to Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, SQL, Python is a plus.
• Exposure to project controls, estimating, cost management, construction, or infra projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support data analytics and reporting for project performance and KPIs.
• Assist benchmarking by organizing and validating data.
• Develop dashboards using Power BI and Fabric from multiple data sources.
• Support data quality and reporting improvements for decision making.
• Contribute to process improvement and automation initiatives.
• Analyze labour, equipment and material tracking for automation opportunities (LEMS).
• Create process docs, playbooks and onboarding materials.
• Help reduce invoice processing time through automation.
• Collaborate with project, construction and business teams on tech-enabled solutions.
• Participate in site visits to understand field operations and reporting workflows.

As a Data Analytics & Process Automation Co-op Student, you'll work closely with Midstream project teams to support data analytics, business intelligence, process improvement, and automation initiatives. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine technical and business skills while gaining exposure to project controls, cost management, benchmarking, reporting, and field operations. You'll work with data from multiple sources to help improve reporting, streamline processes, and develop solutions that drive efficiency across the project portfolio.

What You'll Do

As a Data Analytics & Process Automation Co-op Student, you will:

• Support data analytics and reporting initiatives related to project performance, cost tracking, key performance indicators (KPIs), and project portfolio management.
• Assist with benchmarking activities by organizing, validating, and preparing data for meaningful analysis and comparison.
• Help develop dashboards and reporting solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Power BI by integrating data from multiple systems and sources.
• Support database development, data organization, and data quality initiatives to improve reporting and business decision-making.
• Contribute to process improvement and automation initiatives that reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency.
• Support the LEMS Automation Initiative by analyzing labour, equipment, and material tracking processes and identifying opportunities for automation and workflow improvements.
• Assist in developing process documentation, playbooks, training materials, and onboarding resources to support LEMS adoption.
• Contribute to initiatives aimed at reducing invoice processing and validation time through automation and streamlined workflows.
• Collaborate with project, construction, and business teams to identify technology-enabled solutions that improve project execution and reporting.
• Participate in site visits to gain a deeper understanding of field operations and the processes that support project reporting and controls.

What You'll Bring

• Currently enrolled in the second or third year of an undergraduate degree program in Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Business Analytics, Statistics, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Interest in data analytics, business intelligence, artificial intelligence, automation, and process improvement.
• Ability to work with large datasets and translate information into meaningful insights.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Exposure to Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, SQL, Python, data visualization tools, or automation technologies is considered an asset.
• Exposure to project controls, estimating, cost management, construction, or infrastructure projects is considered an asset.
