Job summary

AltaGas is seeking an Operator 4 for the Enerchem Partnership facility in Slave Lake, Alberta. This shiftwork hourly role supports senior team members and ensures safe, compliant operation of plant processes.

You will execute logs, perform maintenance, monitor equipment, assist with Lockout/Tagout, product transfers, and plant optimization while promoting a safety culture and training less experienced operators.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 5 Driver's License is required.
• Experience in industrial, oil & gas, chemical processing or manufacturing is an asset.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and an interest in learning plant operations is an asset.
• 4th Class Power Engineering certificate would be an asset.
• Familiarity with safe work practices and permit-to-work systems is an asset.
• Strong willingness to learn and work effectively in a team.

Responsibilities

• Complete plant logs, chemical logs, sampling, and laboratory testing independently.
• Perform routine weekly and monthly maintenance activities without supervision.
• Operate and monitor plant processes to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production.
• Adjust and troubleshoot equipment, including chemical injection systems, pumps, filters, and instrumentation.
• Support safe work permitting processes, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Confined Space Entry requirements.
• Perform product transfers, tank management, and shipping-related activities as required.
• Maintain and service plant equipment, including filters, strainers, transmitters, and related process components.
• Demonstrate knowledge of plant process flow, operating systems, and product streams.
• Safely transition plant systems between operating modes, including recycle and production states.
• Participate in plant optimization, continuous improvement initiatives, and assigned Plant Champion responsibilities.
• Promote a strong safety culture through hazard identification, reporting, and compliance with AltaGas policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Support the training and development of less experienced operators as required.

Reporting to the Assistant Plant Manager, and indirectly to the Plant Manager, this position is a shiftwork hourly role. The Operator 4 is a junior to intermediate-level position with minimal supervision duties and supports senior team members in ensuring all activities at the facility are completed safely and in compliance with AltaGas and applicable third-party policies, procedures, and requirements.

You Will:

You Have:

• Strong willingness to learn, develop technical competencies, and work effectively as part of a team.
