Porter Airlines is seeking an Aircraft Material Handler to manage the handling and issuing of aircraft material, maintain accurate inventory records, and support shipping and receiving functions at Toronto’s Billy Bishop airport.

Responsibilities include transactions in the AMOS system, picking and issuing parts for overnight work packs, coordinating urgent AOG shipments, and working with Maintenance, Inventory Control, and Receiving Inspectors to ensure smooth stores operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must be proficient with Google or Microsoft Office Suite (Gmail, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including days, overnights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Perform AMOS transactions for aircraft parts and tools.
  • Assist Maintenance and Inventory Control by picking and issuing parts for overnight work packs.
  • Liaise with Technical Records to correct discrepancies with unserviceable material.
  • Ship aircraft material domestically and internationally using carrier services; handle Dangerous Goods as needed.
  • Coordinate urgent AOG material shipments to outstations and manage COMAT transfers.
  • Load/unload freight using forklift and pallet trucks; arrange local pickups/drop-offs.
  • Work with Receiving Inspectors and Logistics Coordinators to ensure smooth stores operations.
  • Participate in Porter’s SMS and promote safety policies.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Network Warehouse Operations, the Aircraft Material Handler is responsible for the handling and issuing of all aircraft material, keeping accurate inventory records, as well as shipping and receiving functions.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performing all transactions of aircraft parts and tools using our electronic inventory system (AMOS)
  • Assisting Maintenance, Inventory Control and Planning by picking and issuing aircraft parts for overnight work packs
  • Liaise with Technical Records to correct any discrepancies with unserviceable material
  • Carrying out shipping of aircraft material to both domestic and international locations using Purolator, FedEx, DHL etc. and perform any Dangerous Goods shipping as required
  • Coordinate the expedited shipping of urgent AOG aircraft material to any outstation in our network as required
  • Managing the shipping of Company Material (COMAT) to/from all outstations on-board our own aircraft
  • Loading/off-loading of freight from various means of transportation, including the use of a forklift and pallet trucks
  • Arranging local pick-ups/drop-offs using couriers or other approved methods after hours
  • Assisting the Administrator, Inventory Control with weekly, monthly and annual inventory cycle counts as required
  • Delivering time sensitive aircraft material to the Ramp Maintenance Line Office, or to aircraft on the gate
  • Carrying out receiving in AMOS of any urgent AOG aircraft material that arrives after hours
  • Work closely with the Receiving Inspectors, Tooling & Logistics Coordinators to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of all Stores functions
  • Actively participating in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy
  • Other Duties as assigned by the Manager or Supervisor, Stores & Inventory Control

Qualifications
  • Proficient in Google or Microsoft Office Suite including Gmail, Word, and Excel
  • Must be organized, detail oriented and be able to multitask
  • Must be able to work unsupervised
  • Must have a valid Class G driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
  • Dependability (must have a clear attendance record and reliable on-time reporting)
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Ability to communicate and correspond clearly and precisely in English
  • Must be able to obtain a Transport Canada Airport Restricted Area Pass (RAIC) and Airside Vehicle Operator Permit (AVOP) within 6 months of employment
  • Must be available to work 12 hour rotating shifts including days, overnights, weekends, and holidays - *This is a 24/7 operation
