Job summary

Air Canada is seeking Aircraft Technicians for our Winnipeg maintenance center. The role involves maintenance of aircraft airframes and performing troubleshooting with schematics, using diagnostic tools and computers. Candidates must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays, and obtain required security clearances.

Facilities near the Winnipeg International Airport offer benefits and development opportunities. Eligible to travel within Air Canada programs after initial weeks of service.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma.
  • Completion of an apprenticeship or 2+ years in industry.
  • Transport Canada AME-E license (mandatory).
  • Valid driver’s license (mandatory).
  • Able to pass pre-employment qualification, physical, and security checks.

  • Maintain aircraft airframes and perform required maintenance.

  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineer: up to $44.66/hour
  • Junior Mechanic: $27.27/hour

Air Canada is currently seeking dynamic individuals to fill the permanent full-time position of Aircraft Technician at our Winnipeg maintenance center.

The position is located near the Winnipeg International Airport.

Aircraft technicians are responsible for the maintenance of aircraft airframes and must possess the following skills:

  • Ability to use the correct tools, methods, techniques, and equipment required to perform aircraft maintenance.
  • Candidates must be able to read and understand various schematic diagrams for maintenance troubleshooting and be proficient with computers and diagnostic tools.
  • Candidates must be team players, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to maintain a customer-focused attitude in a demanding, high-stress environment.
  • They must also be able to work independently, utilizing phone and computer resources. Self-motivation and self-confidence are assets.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma.
  • You must have completed a recognized apprenticeship program and/or have at least 2 years of industry experience.
  • Possession of a Transport Canada AME-E license (mandatory).
  • Possession of a valid driver's license (mandatory).
  • Ability to successfully pass the pre-employment qualification exam, a physical exam, and a security background check.
  • Available to work nights, evenings, and days, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to pass and obtain an airside vehicle operator's permit (mandatory).
  • Possession of a restricted operator certificate (aviation).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all applicable transport security clearances and other additional accreditations. Please consult the Transport Canada website for more details.
  • Employees in this position perform safety-critical work, and as such, Air Canada medical standards must be met to qualify for this position. Candidates will be subject to a medical evaluation, including drug and alcohol screening, and must be free of any intoxicating substances.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and reliability to support the overall success of the team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the country in question at the time the job offer is made. The search for any work permits/visas or other necessary authorizations is the sole responsibility of candidates for this position.

Selection will be made in accordance with Letter of Understanding 13 of the current collective agreement.
