Job summary

Porter Airlines Inc. in Toronto (YTZ) is seeking an AME Apprentice to support our Q400 fleet within a line maintenance environment. Reporting to the Manager, Line Maintenance, you will gain hands-on experience across aircraft systems and participate in maintenance activities.

You will work under supervision to troubleshoot, repair and document maintenance, while embracing Porter’s safety culture and SMS program. A strong mechanical aptitude and eagerness to learn are essential.

Qualifications

  • Secondary education completed.
  • College diploma in aircraft maintenance from a Transport Canada approved facility.
  • Valid Ontario full G driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain a Canadian Passport and security clearances.
  • Able to pass the company screening process.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot structural, mechanical or hydraulic systems to identify problems and repair per specifications.
  • Repair and overhaul aircraft systems.
  • Install or modify aircraft engines and systems.
  • Dismantle and reassemble airframes and components for repair/overhaul.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance under supervision.

Reporting to the Manager, Line Maintenance in Toronto YTZ, the AME Apprentice will work in support of Porter’s Q400 fleet in a line maintenance environment.

Reporting to the Manager, Line Maintenance in Toronto YTZ, the AME Apprentice will work in support of Porter’s Q400 fleet in a line maintenance environment.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot aircraft structural, mechanical or hydraulic systems to identify problems and adjust and repair systems according to specifications, technical drawings, manuals and established procedures
  • Repair and overhaul aircraft structural, mechanical or hydraulic systems
  • Install or modify aircraft engines, mechanical, hydraulic, flight control, fuel and pneumatic systems
  • Dismantle airframes, aircraft engines or other aircraft systems for repair, overhaul and cleaning, and reassemble
  • Perform and document scheduled and unscheduled maintenance under the guidance of a Lead ACA, ACA or AME
  • Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy
  • Assist on the ramp as required

Qualifications
  • Completion of secondary school is required
  • A college diploma in aircraft maintenance from a Transport Canada approved educational facility
  • Valid Ontario full “G” driver’s license (or out of province equivalent)
  • Ability to obtain a Canadian Passport
  • Ability to obtain necessary security clearancesn
  • Successfully complete the company screening process
