Job summary

Kenn Borek Air Ltd. in Calgary is seeking two skilled Aircraft Maintenance Engineers to join our on-site maintenance team.

Responsibilities include inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining aircraft in compliance with regulatory requirements and manufacturer standards. Candidates must hold or be eligible for a Transport Canada AME licence and have experience with Twin Otters, Beechcraft, or Basler aircraft.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working on Twin Otters, Beechcraft, or Basler aircraft.
  • Valid AME licence issued by Transport Canada, or eligible to obtain one.
  • Ability to sign maintenance releases and certify aircraft airworthiness when properly licensed.
  • Strong knowledge of aviation safety standards, manuals, maintenance procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to maintain accurate inspection, repair, maintenance, and certification records.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot aircraft structural, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, flight control, and related systems to identify defects or repairs.
  • Carry out repairs, installations, modifications, and overhauls on aircraft systems per data, manuals, drawings, and procedures.
  • Remove, disassemble, inspect, repair, reinstall airframes, engines, and components as required.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks and operational checks.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure Transport Canada compliance and company safety standards.
  • Sign maintenance releases and certify aircraft airworthiness when authorized.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, maintenance, certifications, parts used, and work completed.
  • Support parts and supply requirements by tracking and stocking tools, parts, and materials.

Kenn Borek Air is a Calgary-based aviation company that has operated since 1971. The company is internationally recognized for its specialized polar operations in the Arctic and Antarctic, as well as challenging passenger, cargo, search and rescue, medevac, survey, paradrop, and float charter operations. Kenn Borek Air operates and supports twin-engine turboprop aircraft, including one of the world’s largest fleets of de Havilland Twin Otter aircraft, and also provides aircraft management, leasing, and third-party maintenance, repair, and overhaul services.

Position Overview:

We are seeking two skilled and motivated Aircraft Maintenance Engineers to join our Calgary-based maintenance team. This role includes inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining aircraft in accordance with regulatory requirements, company procedures, and aircraft manufacturer standards.

The successful candidates will be responsible for signing maintenance releases and certifying aircraft airworthiness once properly authorized and licensed to do so. As such, candidates must hold, or be eligible to obtain, an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) licence issued by Transport Canada.

Candidates with a foreign AME licence or equivalent aircraft maintenance certification are welcome to apply. Candidates who do not yet hold a Transport Canada-issued AME licence may be considered on the basis that they will obtain the required AME licence from Transport Canada after arriving in Canada.

Job Duties:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot aircraft structural, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, flight control, and related systems to identify defects, malfunctions, or required repairs.
  • Carry out repairs, adjustments, installations, modifications, and overhauls on aircraft systems and components in accordance with approved technical data, manuals, drawings, and company procedures.
  • Remove, disassemble, clean, inspect, repair, reassemble, and reinstall airframes, engines, components, and aircraft systems as required.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks, including routine inspections, preventative maintenance, defect rectification, and operational checks.
  • Inspect completed maintenance, repair, overhaul, and modification work to confirm compliance with Transport Canada requirements, manufacturer specifications, and company safety standards.
  • Sign maintenance releases and certify aircraft airworthiness, where authorized and licensed to do so.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, repairs, maintenance activities, certifications, parts used, and work completed.
  • Support parts and supply requirements by identifying, ordering, tracking, and maintaining inventory of tools, parts, and materials required for aircraft maintenance.
  • Follow all applicable aviation safety, quality assurance, regulatory, and workplace health and safety procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with maintenance, operations, and quality teams to support the safe, timely, and efficient return of aircraft to service.
  • Participate in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe maintenance environment, including proper care and use of tools, equipment, and technical documentation.

Education, Certification and Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working on Twin Otters, Beechcraft, or Basler aircraft.
  • Completion of an approved aircraft maintenance engineering program, aircraft maintenance diploma, or equivalent technical training.
  • Valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) licence issued by Transport Canada, or eligibility to obtain a Transport Canada-issued AME licence.
