Job summary

De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited in Calgary, AB is seeking a skilled Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME-E) with avionics experience to join our MRO team. The AME-E will maintain, troubleshoot, repair and inspect avionics systems to support continued airworthiness of De Havilland aircraft.

The role requires a Transport Canada AME E license, strong knowledge of electrical and avionics systems, and the ability to work within an AMO environment.

Qualifications

  • Valid Transport Canada AME E license.
  • 3+ years of aircraft avionics maintenance experience in commercial, regional, military, or MRO environments.
  • Experience with De Havilland aircraft (Dash 8, Q400, Twin Otter, etc.) is an asset.
  • Experience in a Transport Canada AMO environment is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of aircraft electrical and avionics systems.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform avionics maintenance including inspection, troubleshooting, repair, installation, testing and verification of avionics systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and avionics faults using manuals, diagrams and test equipment.
  • Perform wiring repairs, harness fabrication, component replacement, and electrical modifications.
  • Complete maintenance tasks per AMMs, SBs, EOs and technical data.
  • Maintain documentation and regulatory records accurately.

We are seeking skilled and safety-focused Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AME-E) with aircraft avionics experience to join our Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) team in Calgary, AB.

The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME-E) - Avionics is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, and inspecting aircraft avionics systems and components to support the continued airworthiness of De Havilland aircraft.

Working within a Transport Canada Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) environment, the AME E performs maintenance activities in accordance with approved technical data, manufacturer instructions, Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), and company procedures. This role supports aircraft maintenance programs, defect rectification, modifications, and return-to-service activities while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform aircraft avionics maintenance activities including inspection, troubleshooting, repair, installation, removal, modification, testing, and functional verification of avionics systems and components.
  • Troubleshoot aircraft electrical and avionics system faults using approved maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, test equipment, and technical publications.
  • Perform wiring repairs, harness fabrication, connector repairs, avionics component replacement, and aircraft electrical system modifications.
  • Complete maintenance tasks in accordance with aircraft maintenance manuals (AMMs), service bulletins (SBs), engineering orders (EOs), drawings, and approved technical data.
  • Perform inspections and verification activities within the scope of AMO authorization and applicable Transport Canada privileges.
  • Support aircraft modifications, reliability improvements, defect rectification, and incorporation of approved engineering changes.
  • Remove, inspect, repair, replace, and install avionics components while maintaining proper configuration control and traceability.
  • Complete maintenance documentation, task cards, technical records, and electronic records accurately and in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Certify maintenance tasks performed within the scope of AME E privileges and applicable AMO authorization.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in accordance with company safety practices, human factors principles, and 5S standards.
  • Report defects, hazards, non-conformances, and safety concerns through the Safety Management System (SMS) reporting process.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to maintenance processes, tooling, documentation, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior maintenance personnel as required.
  • Safely operate aircraft ground support equipment and specialized tooling in accordance with training and company procedures.
Education & Experience
  • Valid Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) "E" license.
  • 3+ years of aircraft avionics maintenance experience within a commercial, regional, military, or MRO environment.
  • Experience maintaining turboprop aircraft is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience with De Havilland aircraft including Dash 8, Q400, Twin Otter, CL-215, or CL-415 is considered an asset.
  • Experience working within a Transport Canada Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) environment is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of aircraft electrical and avionics systems.
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, engineering drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Experience troubleshooting aircraft electrical and avionics defects.
  • Knowledge of aircraft standard practices and Transport Canada regulatory requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safety, quality, and continued airworthiness.
  • Ability to complete accurate technical documentation.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic maintenance systems.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work Monday-Friday, 0600-1430.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to obtain a Transport Canada Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC).
