Job summary

Inland Deicing Services is seeking seasonal Aircraft De-icers to safely operate de-icing trucks and support aircraft operations at Ottawa area airfields. You will follow safety rules, interact with pilots and ground crew, and ensure paperwork and inspections are completed accurately.

Ideal candidates are 18+, with a high school diploma or GED, able to pass background checks, and available for seasonal lay-offs and recalls.

This is our commitment, this is our way.Position Overview:Aircraft De-icers work as part of a team to safely and efficiently operate aircraft de-icing trucks for the purpose of de-icing aircraft during inclement weather while ensuring the well-being of self and all internal and external stakeholders.Please note that this is a seasonal full-time job. AIRCRAFT ALWAYS HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY;Promptly and accurately complete all associated paperwork as required;Professionally communicate with aircraft operators (pilots), spraying operators, GRV operators, and other stakeholders in a clear and concise manner via two-way radio;Ensure proper shutdown of pads, including paperwork and logbooks; that all maintenance issues have been logged and reported to maintenance and all proper shutdown procedures for the equipment are followed;Comply with all Government Labour, Health and Safety laws, regulations and policies;Abide by Inland’s procedural handbooks, operational plans, and directives of management to ensure that all work is done according to specifications and/or regulations;Testing of aircraft de-icing fluids as required;Perform daily Vehicle walk-around inspections utilizing appropriate checklists;Promote the best interest of the company by fostering goodwill and support between IDS and its customers ensuring that Inland’s policy of superior service and satisfaction are met;Foster a team environment and create a “group culture”;Required skills & experience:High School Diploma or GED;Minimum 18 years of age;Ability to pass an extended background check;Past experience in a 24/7 operational environment would be an assetFlexible availability;Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs and the ability to learn how to use internal computer programs;Ability to read, write, speak and communicate effectively;Ability to interpret documents including safety rules, operating and procedure manuals;Basic knowledge of aircraft and how they perform would be an asset;Basic mechanical competence and ability to effectively use hand tools would be an asset;Ability to work as part of a team;Ability to maintain a positive and good-natured attitude;Must be comfortable working at various heights;Must be comfortable operating large vehicles during inclement weather in constricted areas;Ability to remain calm and perform under pressure and within fixed time constraints.Physical Demands:It is expected that the candidate be physically fit and able to perform all operational requirements;Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally and twenty (20) pounds regularly;Employees must have the ability to climb 15-foot heights for work;Position involves standing or sitting for extended periods of time as well as bending, kneeling, lifting, climbing, using hands to control tools and feel objects, reaching with hands and arms;Work outdoors for long periods when necessary;Ability to work in a confined space for extended periods of time;Wearing of personal protective equipment when required and full mobility allowing for freedom of movement in high-risk environment;Must be able to speak clearly and hear efficiently;Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus;May be required to move, connect, disconnect hoses and be able to operate industrial valves and perform general labor duties.Security Clearance:Ability to obtain and maintain all security clearances required by Transport Canada or TSA and/or local Airport Authorities;Ability to pass pre-employment background screenings.Mandatory for application submission:Your application will be considered as incomplete if you do not attach a resume.The Inland Group of Companies offers a variety of opportunities to work in the field of aviation.
