Job summary

The Inland Group of Companies is seeking an Aircraft De-icer for a full-time/seasonal position at YHZ in Goffs, NS. You will operate de-icing trucks, follow de-icing procedures, and coordinate with pilots and ground crews to ensure safe aircraft handling in winter conditions.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Clean driver’s abstract and ability to obtain RAIC/AVOP eligibility.
  • Proficiency with basic computer tasks and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate aircraft de-icing trucks and equipment.
  • Follow procedures for de-icing and ADF recovery events.
  • Coordinate with pilots, GRV operators and ground staff via radio.
  • Complete required paperwork and logs accurately.
  • Work in varied weather conditions and maintain safety near aircraft.

Every employee has the authority and responsibility to stop work when unsafe conditions exist.To Learn more please visit " join-our-team "What is in it for you:Insurance - health, dental and life, AD&D and LTDPension plan with employer matchEmployee Assistance ProgramEmployee discountsAdvancement opportunitiesOn the job trainingEmployee Recognition ProgramDailyPay$300 referral bonuses - unlimitedPosition Overview:The Aircraft De-icer, reporting to the Deicing Operations Manager, will work as part of a team to safely and efficiently operate aircraft de-icing trucks for the purpose of de-icing aircraft during inclement weather while ensuring the well-being of self and all internal and external stakeholders.Location: YHZ - 270 Goudey Dr, Goffs, NS B2T 1M6 Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):Uphold and follow the duties related to de/anti-icing aircraft according to procedures for both airlines and participate in pre-planning for de/anti-icing and ADF recovery events by performing checks on equipment and servicing equipment with fuel or glycol;Operate equipment within close proximity to airfield personnel, aircraft and other airfield equipment safely and efficiently;Be alert and aware of other apron traffic, and to only begin de-icing when it can be done safely without interfering with aircraft movement. AIRCRAFT ALWAYS HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY;Promptly and accurately complete all associated paperwork as required;Professionally communicate with aircraft operators (pilots), spraying operators, GRV operators, and other stakeholders in a clear and concise manner via two-way radio;Ensure proper shutdown of pads, including paperwork and logbooks; that all maintenance issues have been logged and reported to maintenance and all proper shutdown procedures for the equipment are followed;Testing of aircraft de-icing fluids as required;Perform daily Vehicle walk-around inspections utilizing appropriate checklists;Promote the best interests of the company by fostering goodwill and support between IDS and its customers, ensuring Inland's policy of superior service and satisfaction are met;Provide support to other areas of the business, including within the fluid processing facility, when requiredAccomplish any other tasks that may, from time to time, be assigned by managementRequired Skills and Experience:High School Diploma or GED;Minimum 18 years of age;Basic computer skills and ability to use a laptop/iPadWorking knowledge of Microsoft programsAbility to read, write, speak and communicate efficiently in EnglishValid driver's license (Class 3 considered an asset)Clean driver's abstractAbility to obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC)Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP)Additional Info:Must be comfortable working in all weather conditionsMust have ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to 20 pounds regularly; occasionally up to 50 poundsMust be physically fit and able to perform all operational requirementsMust be comfortable working in a confined space for extended periods of timeMust be comfortable working at heightsThe Inland Group of Companies is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees without discrimination based on protected grounds under applicable legislation.To Learn more please visit " join-our-team "The Inland Group of Companies offers a variety of opportunities to work in the field of aviation.
