Job summary

Foresters Financial is seeking a Software Engineer Co-op Student (AI) to join the AI & Enterprise Applications team for a 4-month contract in Toronto. You will design, develop, and deploy software and AI-powered solutions, learning from experienced architects and engineers while contributing to real-world business initiatives.

You will train and evaluate ML models, perform data preparation and feature engineering, and collaborate on proofs-of-concepts and prototypes.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
• Strong programming skills in Python, C#, .NET, Java, or similar languages.
• Knowledge of ML concepts and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
• Familiarity with Azure and modern DevOps practices.
• Understanding of data analysis, model evaluation, and software testing principles.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design, development, testing, and deployment of software applications and AI solutions.
• Develop, train, and evaluate machine learning and generative AI models.
• Prepare data, perform analysis, and feature engineer to support model development.
• Collaborate on proofs-of-concept, prototypes, and innovation initiatives.
• Write clean, maintainable code following best practices and participate in Agile ceremonies.
• Support continuous improvement of development processes and tools.
