Job summary

This Government of Alberta initiative, Enterprise Messaging Modernization, spans AI, M365, and cloud projects. Reporting to the Director, Cloud Platform Services, the Senior Project Manager will plan, coordinate, develop, document and deliver multiple IT initiatives from analysis through implementation, guiding cross-functional teams and ensuring alignment with GoA goals.

The role demands strong leadership, governance, risk management, and excellent communication to keep stakeholders informed

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and complete IT projects; set deadlines, assign responsibilities, monitor and summarize progress.
• Prepare project charters and business/project plans to support activities and ensure objectives and data integrity.
• Manage projects documenting business requirements, design and deliver IT solutions aligned with ministries' enterprise architecture.
• Develop recommendations including resource requirements, dependencies, and policy implications.
• Produce and package deliverables for presentation to support teams, steering committees and stakeholders.
• Manage multiple projects, resources and project governance.
• Ensure effective project communication with sponsors and escalate risks as required.
• Maintain client satisfaction and foster win-win solutions with stakeholders.
• Collaborate with leadership to define a clear project plan with objectives, scope, timeline, risks and budget.
• Define project organization structures with clearly defined roles for all stakeholders.
• Document and report status against objectives, milestones, budget and resources; close issues and risks.
• Develop schedules, estimate resources, monitor work plans and take corrective action as needed.
• Provide guidance to resources on priorities and timely delivery.
• Develop related requirements documentation as required.
• Assess outcomes with sponsors and identify opportunities for future improvements.
• Provide leadership for change management and communications in projects.
• Help define standards with the project management office.
