Project Scope

Cloud Platform Services (CPS) supports the GOAs fully integrated Cloud products, Cloud landing zones and M365 services that enable APS staff to work more collaboratively and efficiently as they deliver valuable programs and services to Albertans. The Cloud Platform Services area is also responsible for the continuous service improvement and continuous service development of those services and products.

Responsibilities

• Provide planning, coordination, development, documentation and delivery of multiple Artificial Intelligence, M365 and Cloud related projects from the analysis phase through to the implementation phase.
• Possibly manage other team members and provide program governance as required.
• Review and understand departmental and corporate policies, business rules, data requirements and supporting system processes, and ensure project objectives and schedules align with GoA goals.
• Provide recommendations, including details of resource requirements, dependencies, interdependencies, policy implications and the methodology to be applied.
• Maintain working knowledge and experience of IT infrastructure environments, including general concepts of workstation/server hardware, software build and push strategies, and a general understanding of line‑of‑business applications and architectures.
• Ensure understanding of IT Change and Communication Management and User Acceptance Testing frameworks.
• Communicate effectively, both written and verbal, and function independently and within a team.
• Build and maintain working relationships with team members, vendors and other departments involved in projects.
• Prepare reports for upper management regarding project status.
• Compile project charters and business/project plans to support activities, ensuring business objectives and data integrity are achieved.
• Document business requirements, design and deliver IT solutions that are compliant with and contribute to the Ministry’s enterprise architecture.
• Produce and package deliverables for presentation to internal support teams, steering committees and other stakeholders.
• Manage multiple projects, project resources and project governance.
• Ensure effective project communication throughout the project duration, escalating risks as required.
• Maintain client satisfaction, manage peer-level client relationships and overcome hurdles to ensure win‑win solutions.
• Collaborate with business and IT leadership to develop a well‑defined project plan that states objectives, scope, assumptions, timeline, resource requirements, risks, benefits and budget.
• Work with project sponsors and the project management office to develop a project organization structure with clearly defined roles and responsibilities.
• Document and report project status against objectives, milestones, budget and resources; facilitate tracking and closure of issues and risks.
• Develop project schedule plans and strategies, estimate resource requirements, monitor work plans and take corrective action for completion of project tasks.
• Guide project resources in establishing work priorities and prompt delivery of project tasks.
• Develop related requirements documentation as required.
• Assess whether the project achieved outcomes and identify improvement opportunities for future similar projects.
• Provide leadership and assistance to business and project teams that require change management and communication support.
• Work within the standards defined by the project management office and, if necessary, help define new standards.
