Job summary

Altis Technology is seeking an Innovation & AI Solution Architect for a 6-month contract in Ottawa. You will design end-to-end AI architectures, build analytical and production-ready AI agents, and ensure governance and data residency compliance within a Microsoft-first environment.

You will work with business analysts and digital teams, turning requirements into practical AI prototypes and production-ready solutions while embracing responsible AI and security by default.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end AI architectures using single-agent, multi-agent, and RAG patterns.

• Apply prompt engineering, grounding and security controls in AI solutions.
• Develop RAG pipelines, integrations, and reusable components.
• Establish evaluation, monitoring for accuracy, safety, and cost.

About the Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on Innovation & AI Solution Architect to turn promising ideas into secure, scalable AI solutions within a Microsoft-first environment. Youll work across a diverse portfolio of innovation initiatives, translating business requirements into practical AI agents, prototypes, and production-ready solutions.

Working closely with business analysts, subject matter experts, and digital teams within a national organization, youll combine architecture with hands-on building. Your work will help teams responsibly adopt AI while maintaining Canadian data residency, strong governance, and security by default.

Your Responsibilities

• Youll design end-to-end AI architectures using patterns such as single-agent, multi-agent, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and workflow automation.
• Youll build and test conversational and agentic solutions using Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, Semantic Kernel, and Microsoft Agent Framework.
• Youll apply prompt engineering, grounding, guardrails, Model Context Protocol (MCP), connectors, and multi-agent orchestration.
• Youll develop RAG pipelines, integrations, proof-of-concept environments, and reusable agent and prompt components.
• Youll establish evaluation and monitoring approaches covering accuracy, safety, traceability, cost, and latency.
• Youll embed responsible AI, privacy, Canadian data residency, identity, governance, and security controls into solution designs.
• Youll provide technical documentation, coaching, knowledge transfer, and support for successful handoffs.

Skills and Qualifications

• Strong progressive experience in AI engineering, solution architecture, or a closely related technical discipline, with hands-on enterprise AI delivery experience.
• Advanced Microsoft Copilot Studio and Azure AI Foundry expertise, including Azure OpenAI and Azure AI Search.
• Strong experience with RAG, prompt engineering, agent development, workflow and multi-agent orchestration, MCP, and Semantic Kernel or Microsoft Agent Framework.
• Experience with Power Platform, including Power Automate, Power Apps, Dataverse, SharePoint, and system connectors.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, Purview, Defender, Azure AI Content Safety, and Presidio, with a strong responsible-AI and security mindset.
• Experience with Azure AI Search, PostgreSQL/pgvector, Redis, data preparation, integrations, evaluation, and observability.
• Strong communication, documentation, coaching, and stakeholder collaboration skills. Relevant Microsoft AI or Azure certifications and bilingual English/French capabilities are assets.
