Job summary

Buckberger Baerg & Partners LLP is seeking an experienced Agriculture Bookkeeper to join our Saskatoon team. The role supports agricultural clients with monthly and year-end bookkeeping, data entry, CRA filings, and related business services under the Agriculture Team.

Candidates should have an Accounting Diploma/Certificate and strong MS Office + accounting software skills (QuickBooks Desktop/Online, Agexpert Desktop/Online). Agricultural background is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Accounting Diploma/Certificate or related field (equivalent experience may also be considered).
  • Strong skills in MS Office and accounting software (QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, Agexpert Desktop, Agexpert Online).
  • Agricultural/Farming background is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial file setup and ongoing bookkeeping (monthly and year-end).
  • Prepare working papers and year-end entries.
  • Manage engagements to meet budgets and reporting deadlines.
  • Communicate with CRA and handle account updates and inquiries.
  • Prepare tax filings (GST/PST, and other compliance forms).
  • Assist client with accounts, maintain ledgers, prepare financial statements and reports, reconcile bank accounts and reporting on accounts payable and receivable.

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to become an integral part of our team, in our Saskatoon office, as an Agriculture Bookkeeper.

Summary

Under the direction of the Agriculture Team, Sr. Managers and Partners, the Agriculture Bookkeeper will perform monthly and year-end bookkeeping duties, including but not limited to, data entry, CRA filings and various other business services for our agricultural clients. The Agriculture Bookkeeper will work collaboratively with others as well as independently to provide superior client services and timely work at the firm.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

This position description does not deal with every situation that may arise during employment. It is intended to reflect the core responsibilities and tasks of employment with the firm. Agriculture Bookkeepers will be assigned additional duties from time to time.

Detailed duties will include but are not limited to:

  • · Perform initial file setup and ongoing bookkeeping (monthly and year-end).
  • · Prepare working papers and year-end entries.
  • · Manage engagements to meet budgets and reporting deadlines.
  • · Communicate with CRA and handle account updates and inquiries.
  • · Arrange contact and meetings with clients to determine timing of work on a case-by-case basis.
  • · Prepare tax filings (GST/PST, and other compliance forms).
  • · Assist client with accounts, maintain ledgers, prepare financial statements and reports, reconcile bank accounts and reporting on accounts payable and receivable.
  • · Track and reconcile financial data to ensure accuracy.
  • · Respond to client inquiries and provide requested documentation.
  • · Update projects continually, ensuring that budgets are complete and that accurate deadlines are put into Practice and working with Workflow Administrator.
  • · Compile data and reports for supervisor’s review and decision-making.
  • · Recommend process improvements for efficiency.
  • · Continuously develop professional knowledge and skills.
Additional Responsibilities
  • · Performing other duties, from time to time, as requested.
  • · Completing other accounting-related duties as required.
  • · Positively representing the firm in the community in actions and participation in events, committees, organizations etc. that are of interest to you.

Education and Experience
