Job summary

The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) is leading an AI service initiative to design, build, and deploy LLM-powered solutions for paediatric care. You will collaborate with clinicians, data scientists, and engineers to deliver scalable AI agents and data-driven workflows within a healthcare setting.

This hybrid 1-year contract offers the opportunity to work at SickKids on cutting-edge AI projects, with emphasis on equity, inclusivity, and responsible deployment in a world-class pediatric

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, AI, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on experience building AI agents, RAG systems, prompt engineering frameworks, and LLM-powered applications.
• Proficiency in Python and modern AI frameworks such as Semantic Kernel, LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, or LlamaIndex.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion objectives.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy AI agents and agentic workflows using Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI Service, and Microsoft Copilot technologies.
• Develop enterprise-grade RAG solutions that connect AI agents to clinical, research, and operational knowledge sources.
• Build scalable end-to-end AI pipelines including data ingestion, orchestration, evaluation, monitoring, and governance.
• Rapidly prototype, test, and optimize AI agent solutions to automate workflows and solve high-impact healthcare challenges.

Here's What You'll Get To Do

• Work with some of the best clinicians, data scientists, and software engineers in the world to design, build, and deploy AI agents and agentic workflows using Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI Service, and Microsoft Copilot technologies.

Here's What You'll Needd

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, AI, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

This will make you extra competitive

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft CoPilot and Azure AI Foundry, including building and deploying LLM-based solutions within the Microsoft ecosystem.
• Familiarity with other leading LLM platforms and APIs such as OpenAI/ChatGPT, Anthropic Claude, or Google Gemini, and experience comparing and integrating multiple model providers.
• Experience building autonomous or semi-autonomous agents using frameworks such as AutoGen, CrewAI, LangGraph, or similar; including tool use, memory, and multi-agent coordination.
• Experience applying LLMs to clinical or healthcare domains, including working with EHR data, medical terminology, or health-specific fine-tuning and safety considerations
• History of publishing papers and contributing to scientific research
