The position is located in Pickering, Ontario, and reports to the Procurement Manager. The Purchasing Agent is responsible for negotiating pricing and terms for various commodities, equipment, and services for the OPG Pickering Refurbishment Project.
What You'll Do Here
Your primary responsibility is to lead and manage the full procurement lifecycle to support project success, including early engagement, demand planning, developing procurement strategies, tendering, market solicitation, negotiation, contract award, and management.
This role involves procurement of equipment, materials, and nuclear safety-related components for use in nuclear power plants in Canada, such as plates, structural steel, pipes, tubing, fittings, valves, weld consumables, electrical components, supplies, and PPE.
Responsibilities include reviewing purchase requisitions for clarity and completeness, preparing and issuing RFQs to qualified vendors, conducting market research, assisting in developing procurement plans, negotiating major contracts, and implementing cost reduction strategies.
You will also collaborate with operations and regional offices to obtain materials, support the estimating team with pricing during tendering, and ensure quality and operational responsiveness.
Additionally, you will be accountable for service quality, training on the Aecon Quality assurance manual, and supporting organizational goals through effective procurement strategies.
What You Bring To The Team
2-3 years experience in the Nuclear Construction Industry in procurement or 5+ years in conventional procurement.
Completion of Materials and Operations Management Program is an asset. Enrollment in or completion of PMAC’s Accreditation Program is preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of OPG Passport system and SAP is an asset.
Understanding of Nuclear Codes & Standards such as ASME and CSA relevant to procurement activities.
Ability to meet deadlines, manage priorities, and communicate effectively. Customer service orientation, planning, decision-making, negotiation, and time management skills are essential.
